Well looks like things are turning sour ahead of schedule. I guess you could say it's going along according to script but I didn't think it would be this soon. Typical Baron, I think once and for all this proves he is a diva and a malcontent since it's happened every place he's been. Even though he did pretty well with the Warriors and Nelson, that line about jacking up long bombs with the full shot clock remaining and calling his own plays made me recall the bad Baron again. Very glad the Warriors did not hand him a huge contract and if it's this bad this early in L.A., I'll be surprised if he's not traded before the end of the year because they don't have the talent to make it work right now.
I don't think Baron enjoyed playing with his son, and I guess there would be a transition for Baron to get used to playing with the senior Dunleavy who has more of a rigid coaching style. Nelson was perfect for Baron Davis. Baron is also not really playing with his friends Al and Stephen. So I guess there's a transition that has to take place. I am not sure if the Dunleavy/Baron combo will work in the end though.
I don't think it will work, however I think I was a little harsh on Baron there. I still think the "good" Baron, where he stays away from his weaknesses, is a top-5 NBA point guard. The problem is, he just can't ever seem to do that in the long run. Yes, Nellie handled him best, but even there there was some friction.
Friction isn't a bad thing. If it just gets out of control then maybe some worrying may have to take place. But after watching the as much as I have of the first half of this game, I don't like the way Baron is playing though. It definitely seems like he's going to need some transition getting used to playing with his new teammates.
ANTHONY MORROW. Freaking awesome. 37 points and 11 rebounds. The Clippers broadcasters were demoralized by Morrow. It was kind of interesting watching this Warriors lineup. A lot of undrafted studs in Azubuike, Watson, and Morrow. I loved the way they played. They simply played better basketball than the Clippers. The Warriors were getting inside, passing the ball, getting the line, etc. The Clippers were kind of hindered by Baron Davis' lack of passing and being a leader. When Baron started making plays, in the 3rd the Clippers were making impressive plays. But after that quarter, it just sucked for the Clippers. Biedrins is impressive as well. There was some all-star talk for Biedrins coming from these Clippers broadcasters. I surely hope that will be the case. And to confirm the case about Baron just chucking today, he shot 10 3's this game. The Warriors were also blessed with some great passing today as well. 29 assists to 12 turnovers. I haven't seen that all year. I am not sure if it will be that good - the Clippers defense was just horrible today. But hopefully it's a start of some good passing to continue for the season. Two last points, for Anthony Randolph. He made one play where he got the rebound on one end and dribbled in down the court, and made this horrible charge play. The Clippers announcers said that was Lamar Odom as a rookie right there. I guess he did that all the time his rookie year too. The last thing about Randolph is that, I wish he could develop some type of decent shot. If he can do that, he'd be a very effective and good player, since he can do so many other things. But his shot just hasn't looked so good so far this season. Just get that going for him, and I think he'd start being able to stay on the court, which will be good for the Warriors.
I loved watching Morrow. It reminded me of Belinelli's 30 point explosions in vegas. Explosive shooters are definitely capable of changing the entire game. I don't know what to expect, but I think he was on the zone that night. He had some very good moves offensively and he was just a smart, hustle type of player.
