thank you. boone is a starter while sean is constantly in danger of being on the inactive list. when the williams nuthuggers realize this he'll be gone already
Wow, if they acquire him, they'll have the best summer league team ever! (I'm excited if it clears some dead weight from the roster. Maybe part of a bigger Al Harrington deal?)
Belinelli would be great. Ryan and Belinelli would mean 2 great outside shooters, one backcourt, one front court. The reason this is so important, is that we have seen in the east(like the west traditionally) thus far teams that shhot like crazy from the perimeter and putting up very western conference-like numbers. (See Pacers, Hawks, Knicks!) There are times when we might want or need to shootoyt w/ these guys. Also, I Would do this in a heartbeat if it involved Simmons, Ager or Hassell. (Also Najera, but I know Eddie Nachos isn't going anywhere for marketing reasons). BTW, what's up with all the Boone hating(if it's about FT's, I get it, but I'm surprised there is sooo much more man love for Sean over Noone.)
Boone, obviously, is much better than Sean, right now. I don't think anyone is debating that. Sean clearly has more potential however.
i've never understood why hops, dunking, and flashy shotblocking = more potential. boone has shown signs of an improved jumpshot this season, already has terrific bball iq and positioning, as well as an uncanny ability to finish around the basket, and is only 23. how someone could say he does not have much potential is baffling.
He has more potential because he possesses athletic abilities that cannot be taught. If he gets proper guidance, and learns how to actually play the game, he could be very good. Hence, the reason people say players like Sean have "high" potential. EDIT: Would just like to clarify that I don't think Sean will ever reach that potential nor do I think he will amount to much of anything in the NBA.
Boone can dunk, block shots, rebound--esp. on the offensive end--and has this weird talent of stretching and catching the ball at odd angles to convert an alley-oop. He doesn't have much range on his shot, but he has been working on it and it is obviously improving. His only material weaknesses are that he has trouble at the line, and he gets down on himself and sometimes gives up when the play is still going on. Look, he's a keeper. I think his actual value is greater than his perceived value around the league. How many centers have the nets had over the past ten years who were capable of putting up 18/14 games?
Statistically Boone's last 3 games were not that great, but I think the fact that Devin Harris out was a bigger factor than most people realize...I don't understand how 3 subpar games can make people so down on a player who was our most consistent, actually our best big man last season.
Sean Williams is a horrible basketball player. What is so hard to understand about this? Josh Boone is a real NBA player. Sean Williams has no position and no basketball skills whatsoever and will always be an end of the bench scrub.
Of the 2, I'd want the Nets to move Sean over Boone. Boone is an excellent man to come off the bench for your starting 4/5s. Sean as many have discussed is a man with no real position. -Petey
Thorn is going to work his magic you'll see. i bet he rapes golden state again and grabs harrington and bellini for a bag of balls. they can have swift, boone, najera, hassell, ager, simmons, ager there #1 pick back from the marcus heist for harrington and bellini. pick anything from our trash bin. that gives us c-lopez - sean williams pf-Yi - ryan anderson sf- harrington - hayes sg- carter- bellini - cdr pg- harris- dooling that will be a beautiful thing baby.
Horford was limited to 12 pts. tonight something I can't say Boone would have made him do if he were the sub after Lopez got in foul trouble, that should further let people know how important it is to keep him over Boone. Boone is just benefiting from more burn if he has trade value you deal him before he loses it.
Totally agree, though I like Sean and appreciate the support he's shown for the team when he wasn't even sniffing the court. The ideal would be to move Swift so that you could continue to let Sean grow slowly and see spot minutes or real time when there are inevitable injury/foul problems. The guy I really would like to move is Simmons, not because I would theoretically mind having him available for certain nights or for injury insurance but because the things he said about his opportunities last year in Milwaukee as well as his ridiculous assessment of his value vs. RJ indicate to me that his ego would make for chemistry problems if another wing was brought in and he was benched. If I'm wrong and he could accept being 3rd on the depth chart at SF, then I would welcome a trade of either Swift or Sean for Bellinelli. Of course getting Frank to realize that Simmons should in fact BE 3rd on the depth chart is another matter.
Boone gets abused too much for a center IMO. Say if he was the starter against the Hawks we probably would have lost yesterday at home. Lopez in the oher hand has a presense in the paint. To get back on topic, I would love to get Bellineli here in Jersey. Him and CDR will have to fight for minutes which can only lead to improvement in both parts. In all honesty I do not care if either Boone or Williams gets traded to get Marco. Boone will never be a center who can dominate the paint and Williams has A LOT to learn still. But if I had to pick one, I would rather keep Swat and draft a real center with a 2nd rounder, or maybe sign a free agent even.
