Well, Dallas just pulled one out against NY, but they had to go to overtime to avoid a 6-game losing streak. If they continue to stink, I wonder (a) if they'd consider a radical re-build, and (b) if they'd want LaMarcus for Nowitzki, and (c) if we'd want that. It would put us in a position to go for it right now, and it would be a nice response to the Lakers picking up Gasol.

    That is all.

Why would we want to trade LaMarcus for Dirk?

I agree that LMA may not be the best fit for us (or maybe he will be), but I could easily see why Dallas would want him, and why he'd want to go there. That's why I had him going out in the LeBron Pipe Dream Trade and Nowitzki going to Cleveland.

I don't necessarily like Dirk for our team, though I wouldn't boo him out of town.

volume shooter with declining numbers who's not known for his defense. probably a terrible fit for us.

    Too old.

    Doesn't play defense.

    No thanks.

A few years ago, maybe. Dirk is already 30 and his better years are behind him. LMA is only 23 and he is still getting better. I'm all for adding some veterans to this team, but not via any trade that mortgages one of our main guys.

I think our official "window" will open the season after next.....hopefully next....but with Dirk's age, I don't think he'll be a good fit. We have the 3pt shooting covered!

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Nowitzki doesn't fit Portland's window and he's declining. Aldridge is young, very good and still improving. Since most of Portland's talent is still not near its peak, I don't see any reason to try to sell out for this season.

If Nowitski was 3 years younger and actually played a lick of defense I might consider it, but since he fulfills neither characteristic I think we'd probably be better served holding onto Lamarcus and letting him work his way out his 3 game slump.

Wanna talk trades? How about KP packaging up some of our redundant players along with Raef lafrentz and getting a legit, veteran starter to fill the 3 or 1 spot?

You know what would have been interesting.... acquiring Paul Pierce before the Celtics got Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett. Imagine Pierce on this team. Yikes.

Lol..I hate when people make threads just because they have a big night.. He's been playing terrible the rest of the year, and in a big decline. LMA has a bad game with bad neck, and these stupid threads come up. Typical.

If people complain that LMA is soft, I think the world would collapse if we traded him for Dirk.

Now he is, but as discussed about he is on the down swing and LaMarcus is on the upswing. Timing is everything in building for a Championship. I'd rather take my chances with LMA than take on Dirk.

There was a trade on the table for our #3 pick (later traded to become Martell Webster) plus Travis Outlaw and Nick Van Exel (as trade filler) for Pierce. I don't know which side backed out.

Hmm... I guess if we're playing the hindsight game I would keep the 3rd pick and take Chris Paul. :biglaugh:

Boston pushed hard for that pick.

A pick they would have used on Chris Paul, according to the Boston Globe.

Not if it meant we wouldn't get Oden, Brandon, LaMarcus and Rudy
