The local guys like Canzano and Gavin Dawson are amateurs. There's a big difference between them and the national hosts like Rome or JT the Brick. Rome is obnoxious, but it comes off as charming and funny. When the local guys try to be controversial it just sounds stupid.
My main thing with them isnt really how they criticize Oden.. as stupid as I may find it, or as stupid as anyone thinks the opinion is.. they still have the right to have that opinion. My main problem with them is their attitude towards anyone's opinion that differs than them they treat them like crap and in an inferior manner. They act like they are God's gift to radio shows, yet without the great fans of the Blazers, Ducks, and Beavers... they wouldnt even have a show to bitch and moan on. Yet they alienate and put down those very fans who give them a show. Canzano on the other hand.. I may not agree with him all the time, but he is respectful of his listeners and his guests and when a caller disagrees with Canzano he will hear them out and discuss that thought, not just call them a douche and hang up and talk about how much of a Homer one is. I for one actually enjoy Canzano's show, much more than his columns as well.
I will check out Monday morning's show just to see if they are ingesting the flock of crow that they should be. Any time they are doing any ranting I'll be thinking of the stupid "JOBBER" soundbite It will be interesting to see the way they play it STOMP
Actually, if "we stop listening", "we" will get nothing but national shows at first, and then a change in format second.

I will echo this. I am going to listen on Monday and may even call in to give them my 2 cents. I was planning on sending an email to jake derby. I mean it's understandable that it's good radio to have disagreements and makes people call in, thats what Canzano's show is all about. I expect that from him! I don't speak for all of us, but I'm pretty sure most of us arent the biggest Canzano fans. Gavin was different in the morning, I mean just talking blazer talk and it was good. Now the Blazers arent going to make the playoffs and I have never listened to Colin in the morning so maybe I will make that switch. But here's to hoping something changed.
Did anyone call into the 5th Q last night after last night's win, since Dawson was hosting it? Anyone even bother calling him a class A dumbass there?
Actually, I don't think anyone should call in to his show tomorrow. Show his program director that his stupid rants and immature, insulting behavior has completely turned off his listener base and made him irrelevant. Stop giving him the attention that keeps his program director happy and keeps him employed. BNM
Someone did and Dawson tried to state the case that his comments were misinterpreted. The guy kept pressing and was eventually cut off.
Shocker there. Whatever the case, I don't even really object to Dawson saying that he was a little concerned about Greg's "re-debut" when he played in the Miami game, because the 3 points, 2 boards and 2 blocks he posted was nothing to really write home about. The main objection I had with him was the overly emotional and rude tone he took with Brian Wheeler before he cut him off too. I have no problem with a radio jock being a douche -- that's part of the job description in modern sports talk as far as I can tell -- but it would be nice to hear just a little bit of perspective, instead of the chicken little shtick that he pulled out after the most statistically insignificant sample size in history; Greg's first "real" fifteen minutes in the wake of a year and a half of physical setbacks. It reminded me of some of the dreck that gets passed off for analysis around here.
Curious if Wheels comes back on the show any time soon.....I'm not sure it's required of Wheels to talk to Gavin in the morning, if not Gavin just burned a very valuable insider. They pull the same crap with the OSU insider (Todd ???). Insulting your guest isn't good way to get them to come back on your show.
They back tracked this morning and then played the semantics game. They said people were not listening to them clearly when they stated that "Oden was playing like a jobber, not was a jobber". First of all, as an adult I have a real hard time using a word such as Jobber. Not sure what one is, but for the sake of argument we'll replace it with bust. Second, I think the implication was clearly made when you bring the bust (jobber) word into play. By saying Oden was playing like a bust, one would normally assume that to mean you're calling him a bust. Just as if I had said to my boss that he was acting like an asshole, he would assume I was calling him that, or if I told my wife she was acting like a bitch, naturally she wouldn't be very happy. Needless to say, the lack of any sort of admitting that they could have possibly been wrong, really did lose for me any ounce of credibility they might have had left. The Morning Sports Page continues to SOUND immature and unproffesional, and I would expect that they will be losing some ratings for the future. Of course I am not saying that Gavin and Chad are immature or unproffesional, that's just how the shows comes off.
