They're pretty much getting blown out by the Suns. This just goes to show that our loss wasn't really a big deal. Detroit was just playing out of their minds. Kwame does have 10 points so far, but only 3 boards. Iverson is his usually volume shooting self, and isn't making every single shot he throws up, like he was against us. Sheed is back down to earth. He isn't making crazy bankshot three pointers. Overall, their magic is gone. They just played out of their minds against us, and we just had a bad game. Sucks that they couldn't have waited one game to use their magic wands, they had to use it against us. Oh well. Chicago is our next victim
keep telling yourself that... maybe the lakers finally came down when they played the pistons. besides, is one loss that big of a deal regardless of the team? pistons are a final 4 team this year.
Or maybe it had to do with the fact that the Lakers, who have blown out the Rockets and Hornets (until they made a mini surge in the fourth), had a bad game, and the Pistons were just playing out of their minds? Which they were.
AI, you gotta admit Detroit was playing out of their mind against their Lakers and just had an almost perfect game while the Lakers really sucked ass (although Detroit had much to do with that as well). The spread for that game was -10 for pete's sake...I don't think anyone expected the sort of game we saw. The Lakers since acquiring Pau Gasol have only lost a few games, so to see us lose like that at home on a 7 game winning streak with everyone healthy was pretty odd. I do agree with you that the Pistons are a Final 4 team, and a Lakers vs Pistons finals isn't that far fetched at all. Anyone who thinks AI is overrated or can't bring a team a 'ship obviously doesn't watch him play enough cuz AI is a special dude. I'd like to see the Lakers play Detroit again and see what the outcome would be.
I'm not really knocking the Pistons btw. I know I kind of come across that way, and I apologize. I'm just kind of upset the Pistons played out of their minds, on the very same game we decided to lay an egg. Oh well. The Pistons are gonna be a dangerous team this year though. They still need time to get familiar with acquiring a superstar in Allen Iverson, and even though a lot of people are writing them off after the trade, I'm not. Iverson has never had this much talent around him. He made the Finals with Mutumbo and Aaron McKie as his best side kicks. The Pistons will certainly be a top 4 team this year, or at least IMO, and I look forward to our next matchup!
The Lakers finally came back down to earth, having the best record in the league by only a small margin instead of a greater magnitude... ... ... 8d Please, I'm not worried about anything yet, but interesting thread anyway Lost. I'm not dissing the Pistons either.
No one is saying that the Pistons aren't a good team, we're just saying they played ridiculously good against us and have since come back down to earth. As for the Lakers...a loss was bound to happen, no team will ever go perfect in the NBA, and it's not like the loss was to a crap team. The Lakers are still hands down the best team in the NBA. They've played great defense and solid offense (they score a lot, but their not shooting well). The scary thing is that this team is already the best team in the NBA, and they can get a lot better. They haven't shot the ball well...at all really. They've had some good shooting nights but haven't been consistent. When they start shooting the ball like they are capable of, this team will be even better.
If by final four you mean Lakers/Boston/Hornets/Cavs then yeah you are right, oh wait......... oh you mean final four in the NCAA?
I find it remarkable that Detroit is as good as they are, and as good as they have been the past couple of seasons. They're really long in the tooth and their young guys are solid NBA role players at best. AI is a terrific player, but I'd call him long in the tooth, too.
Hmm...I'm still not really sold on the Cavs. I still think they're a one-trick pony that needs to find consistency from their other parts before they can make it to the next level.
I don't think the Lakers had the right scheme when they played Detroit and weren't used to their new style. They defended the Pistons and attacked them based on how the Pistons played last season. No one was cutting and there was far too many one on one isolations on the offensive end and no transition defense to speak of. Rasheed & AI couldn't miss in the game and Kwame actually played inspired basketball. Impressive victory for the Pistons, but the Lakers didn't play anywhere near what their capable of and I don't think it had to do with Detroit and more to do with the Lakers being flat.
