Casual minutes? He's playing 26 mpg the past two games compared to Yi's 20 mpg. Don't forget he's still a rookie and you don't want to overwhelm him with too big a role and start impeding his progress. He's going to get tired soon enough without playing 30+ mpg.
Or he could continue doing what he's done since high school. And, that is to become the leading scorer on the team. If yi is playing 20 minutes and disapearing then Ryan who is getting you 17 in 25 minutes could get you like 23 if he were playing 34. This doesn't hurt the nets but maybe Yi's feeling and well like frank says you earn your minutes. He can't just fall back on i'm a lottery pick anymore, he has to deliver every night. The league has seen him now for over a year and he's got to show he's progressing. Ryan is and was taken out of the rotation when he didn't, why is Yi treated differently? I say let the play/production dictate minutes and starting position. Remember Frank said only positions 1 and 2 are guaranteed right now. #3 to 15 isn't and will be based on what the players do on the court. If you go by that critera alone Ryan Anderson should be starting now...
That is circular logic. Seriously, what has Anderson really done in the NBA so far? If you need to go back highschool to prove his success, that's just fail. Anderson is a good rookie so far. But, you're here just begging the question to back up your circular reasoning. Yi has had better games than Anderson even during Yi's rookie year. Anderson had 2 good games. I can just as easily say that Anderson is better off the bench and not starting because he produce better in that rotation.
Well you can't use that logic either since Ryan Anderson hasn't started. You could also say if Ryan Anderson did start from the begining of the season his numbers would most likely be better. Yi has started and had a few good games. Most of his games have been subpar or average or just below average. When Ryan gets minutes he produces. In the summer league Ryan did start and did have some very nice numbers. Ryan led his team in high school and in college. He was overlooked by all scouts and coaches when he went to college. In college he didn't only lead the pack 10 in scoring and rebounds, but he was the go to guy at Cal. If you stop ryan anderson you stop cal, yet he continued being the leading scorer on his team for both years. Now he's in the pro's and i see his game transending into the pro game as it did from high school to college. If that continues he will eventually be one of the leading scorers on this team. He's a natural shooter and has high basketball IQ. Yi is a good shooter and has basketball IQ, but not as high in my opinion as Ryan. Yi is a streaky kind of shooter thus far, while Ryan is more consistant. Therefore, the minutes should go to the player who produces more with the minutes given him. I expect Ryan to continue his rise, while Yi has a history of inconsistancy and hitting a rookie wall. That could have been from many factors including all his outside basketball work, which won't change in new jersey. So i guess 9 games into the season my view is ryan is better now than yi is. May change, but right now i'd say ryan deserves the more minutes.
How is the weather in fantasy land? Edit: I'm just saying players don't magically get better just because they get their names announced as "starters". Let this play out a bit, if Anderson is more productive than Yi over a stretch of games. I'm all for the change. But the sample size right now is not conclusive and if you switch rotation based on every game. That can hurt team chemistry.
check out the 82game site: http://www.82games.com/0809/0809NJN.HTM do the math and see if they use the same math in fantasy land as they do in your world. Btw, what is the color of the sky in your world?
And 9 games into the season is 10% of the season a decent sample. I wonder how many games the nets would have won with ryan starting from the start.
I could be biased, but I think you are way over your head about Ryan Anderson. He's a nice player, just not as good as you think. Yes, he's got a couple nice games, but come on, you sound like he's a game changer and is going to lead the nets to win an NBA championship.
Ryan Anderson proved himself to be a very good college player too. It's not like his performance is totally out of the blue. What has Yi done to say he's proven and Anderson is not? Both are prospects right now, but Anderson has been better right now.
For a moment you convinced me that NBA drafted BAD players from college and overseas. I'm not here to defend Yi either, just commenting on the circular logic and fallacies.
Do, I even have reply on this? You know how silly you sound? FFS, NBA GMs and scouts do NOT look for bad players to draft.
Yes, you do. If you're going to say there is circular logic, show me. FFS, NBA GMs and scouts obviously do not look for bad players to draft. But that's not what you said. You said: Yes, they do draft bad players sometimes.
