Does he mean a win for the Nets, and the Nets only?

Then again, the Mavericks might suck as a result of firing one of the best coaches in the league more so than trading Harris for Kidd.

Not much winning for the Mavs since they got him.

Cuban's right. He found himself a good fishing partner for when the Mavs miss the playoffs.

If only Dallas wasn't a state rival with the Rox, I'd feel sorry. I'd be pissed as shiet at Cuban if I was a Dallasite (Dallasian?).

That and JHo is a douche. Both of them. Is the old one still with Dallas?

Sucks for Cuban. First his team sucks so much, he has to talk out of his ass to find some positives. Now he's probably gonna end up in jail. :(

Jason Kidd has been your best player by far Mark? Really? Did you mean to say 'playa', because I think that Kidd needs to change a lot to fit into the Mavs system. Both Dirk and Terry have been better than him IMO.

I thought the Nets won this trade by a fairly decent margin when it was first announced. Now it's clear they completely robbed the Mavs. The Mavs bet the farm on Kidd and it ended up costing them. They lost multiple first round picks and a promising PG in Devin Harris for a 35 (soon to be 36) year old Jason Kidd, who didn't even help them advance past the first round!

The Mavs should have taken a cue from the Lakers - they weren't willing to give up Bynum for Kidd the previous year.

Kidd's contract gives them the ability to sign a major Free Agent or 2 in 2010. Unlike other owners, Cuban has shown he will spend. Couple that with Dirk's declaration that he will take less money, the Mavs may not have lost on this trade yet.

Even though Dirk said he'll consider taking less money, I doubt this pay cut will be enough for them to sign anther max player, let alone two. They still have Dampier making $13M, Terry making $10M, Howard making $11M (I think they pick up his option), and Diop making $6M. That's already $40M and they still haven't re-signed Nowitzki yet. Let's say he accepts $12M per season as his pay cut. That gives the Mavs $52M in salary and they still have to add several other players to make a full roster.

With the roster as it stands signing a max player in 2010 would not be easy. However, if any one of those players gets traded for an expiring contract that significantly changes things. I thought the Dampier signing was bad, but the Diop signing was inexcusable. The other thing to consider is the fact that the other superstar might take a pay cut as well in order to get a championship ring playing for the Mavericks. Its no secret that the majority of players in the NBA would love to play for the Mavs considering the way Cuban pampers his players
