I've tried to stay behind him during his tenure here, but he has simply coached in a horrendous manner. Not playing Love in the fourth when he had certainly earned it and plays Smith instead, not giving Miller the amount of shots that he deserves, not giving Rodney Carney a chance to play. He just isn't doing things right, and it is time for him to go. Not giving the ball to a guy with as much offensive firepower as Mike Miller 12-15 times a game is wrong, especially on a team like this one, where Miller is the second best player on the team. Guys like Rashad McCants, Randy Foye, and even occasionally Corey Brewer and Craig Smith get more shots up than Miller. And it is not because of Miller's lack of confidence or anything like that, it's the fact that Wittman drawn up veeeery few plays for this guy, and that is just absurd. When Kevin Love played in the entire third quarter of the last game vs the Warriors, we won that quarter 37-25, then we didn't see Love for any of the fourth quarter. We obviously lost that quarter and eventually lost in overtime. I'm not saying that Kevin Love is god and would have won us the game, but it seems like he is always in the plus, as well as the team when he is in. And when it is like that, and he is supposed to be an active guy on your team, wouldn't it make sense to play him in the fourth against a poor defensive team in Golden State (sorry Capt Kirk)? This team was supposed to look quite a bit better than last year. We have new, better players and didn't lose anyone super important (other than OJ Mayo), right? Not playoff ready better, but better enough that it is obvious that we have improved by the way we play. But IMO, Randy Wittman is holding us back. It's time for him to go.
I agree completely tim. Unfortunately, Glen Taylor is in the bedroom with McHale and Wittman. How can a money man like Taylor sit and watch his team lose him money? Wittman was a good assistant, but doesn't have the tools to be successful (at least here in MN). We need to revamp our management because what we have obviously is not working. I think our team, in terms of talent possessed, is top 20, if not top 15, and we're sitting well below .500 and barely beating OKC.
