Don't rule out his relationship with Jay-Z. That has to count for something.

It's how the Nets have signed all these star free agents over the last few years.

I think a lot depends on how the two teams (Knicks/Nets) look come 2010, and which one gives LeBron the better chance at a title. He does want a ring, right?

I disagree with Carter15Nets, I don't see any reason why LeBron wouldn't play in New Jersey for one year if he would be playing in Brooklyn afterwards. But again it depends on the team outlook, IMO.

So do Sonny and you guys think that if the Barclays Center is 2/3 done and he has to play one season in NJ that will matter one iota to him if he is being paid $103 million? No one can believe that logic...particularly since his Nike contract, which is just as valuable as his Cavs contract contains a 15% kicker if he is playing in New York.

Sonny Vaccaro doesnt know shit. He is looking for relevance in a post-sneaker world.

PS Jay-Z is a lot closer to Lebron than Vaccaro is or was and he can't say a thing without being charged with tampering.

And it's not like the Izod center will be empty if he's playing there. He's the type of player that will bring people out. Especially with how close it is to New York...even if he's not on the Knicks, there will be plenty of people who make the trip.

Absolutely. And the three most difficult positions to fill on a basketball court are center, point guard and power forward. Nets already have their future players at all three positions under contract through 2011. Harris is under contract through 2013, Yi til 2011 and Lopez til 2012. The Nets also have as many as five first round picks in place in 2009/2010/2011--Nets in 2009, Nets and Mavs in 2010, and Nets and Warriors (lottery protected) in 2011.

Who do the Knicks have under contract those years...and at what price? Curry, Crawford, Randolph, Jeffries, Gallinari, Collins but no starting point guard (Duhon has a two year deal) and no true center unless you want to count Curry (D'Antoni doesn't). They will have to sign or give up on both Nate Robinson and David Lee next summer. They won't sign both. Gallinari is this year's Greg Oden. They have no pick in the 2010 draft which means they cannot trade their picks in either 2009 or 2011 since league rules prohibit teams from trading their first round picks in two consecutive years. They have no second rounder in 2009 (nor do the Nets).

The Nets currently have $25 million in salary commitments that year. The Knicks have $44 million. That could change, but the road to 2010 has a lot fewer twists, turns, ruts, and speed bumps in New Jersey than it does in New York.

    I have a Dream:
The Brooklyn debacle falls through. Ratner goes to prison. People who care about New Jersey buy the Nets, the Governor and Mayor Booker help get the Nets to Newark by 2011 and...................
Le Bron James is playing in anything BUT a Nets Jersey.

also keep in mind that Xandu thing may be done in 2010, a year before Brooklyn. think about one of the world's largest malls and the people it will attract..and then those people able to see Lebron at the Izod.

I still don't think Xanadu will be done then.

About 15 million people live less than 20 miles from the arena.

yeah most of them are nixs fans anyway, and in Atlantic City most are 76ers fans. NJ lost the right to have a franchise after years and years of poor attendance. Even when the nets went to the finals they had trouble selling out. I want a team that actually has a home court advantage.

I agree, but in AC there is no fan base whatsoever. No pool of potential fans to draw from, no traditional fans, no nothing. It's not a good place for an NBA team.

Newark could work because of the central location and public transportation.
