He’s talking about the Beavers specifically, so why suddenly compare the Beavers’ road performance versus the Ducks? I guess if you have no solid argument against something (which you don’t in this case), you pretend like other irrelevancies matter. :dunno:

RipCity is right, the Beavers are 2-3 on the road this season, the wins coming over Washington and UCLA. Poor Washington hasn’t won this year. UCLA, ehhhhhhh…I’d call it a solid win, not a quality win. The margin is nice, but UCLA is not very good and they’ve been manhandled at home before…in fact, they were manhandled at home by those same cats IIRC.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad Beaver fans are confident in their team going into this game, and I’d like nothing more than to see them dominate on Saturday and setup a huge, entertaining CW. I just don’t share the same confidence for reasons I’ve already stated.

i bet you didnt see the road game against utah. that game was won if it wasnt for a bs pass interference call a mountain west official made...2 of the road losses were a whole different team, the team now has so much more confidence and a style, they didnt know how they were going to play then. now everyone knows its pounding with quizz...ucla was a good win considering no moevao and morales...

how about you tell me a good team oregon has beat on the road, or a good team oregon has beat all together.....

who cares who has won what? if its coming down to either team getting a shot at the Rose Bowl, both teams records going in the the CW are 0-0.

    1. The thread is entitled OSU/UO -- why wouldn't we compare our record against the Ducks? You brought up the point in the first place.

    2. Yes, we've lost three games on the road. On the other hand, two of those losses were to teams in the TOP 10 BCS STANDINGS. Don't get me wrong, the Stanford game sucked and is embarrassing. The Utah game, well enough has been said about that. Even the Penn State thrashing still hurts. Still, two of those three losses were to teams in the TOP 10 BCS STANDINGS.

    3. Which brings me to the last point, cupcake scheduling on the part of the Ducks. Boise State was the only solid nonconference game. And, y'all made a 3-8 Purdue team look pretty tough when you played them on the road.

2 of our 3 losses were to USC and Boise State... 2 top 10 also.

See, this is where I feel like some people here aren't adults... these arguements are "oh, you guys didn't beat thme by enough points"... WHO CARES! Didn't you guys hardly squeeze by Arizona State? This is silly. Our guys traveled halfway across the country and simply weren't prepared to play, but they gutted it out and came out with a W... that says a lot about a team. Reminds me of the Blazers last game vs. Minnesota. WE stole one...

I don't think this thread was made to be a trashtalking thread, but more of a thread about how awesome the Civil War is going to be and how badass our state has been in college football this year. I think you will find most Duck fans rooting for the Beavs, and if the ducks can't make the Rose Bowl, we'd want the Beavers to make it... And if we do lose again, i'd have it be to the Beavers if they beat Arizona so they can go to the Rose Bowl.

There has to be something with the mindframe of some of you, always trying to compare yourselves to the Ducks....

And we didn't really have a cupcake schedule... Utah State is better than Hawaii you guys played... they dominated them when they played this year... Boise State is around as good as Penn St... and Purdue isn't a bad team to schedule ooc... its a far away road game. I think it was a solid OOC.

    1. You were hassling us about our poor road record and that was what was being compared (although I admittedly leaked a little into general YET TRUE cupcake schedule fingerpointing). Take your Boise State loss and USC loss off the list -- those happened at your house. My main point was that our "poor" road record of 3 losses included losses to 2 top teams.

    2. Do you really think Boise State/Utah State/Purdue stacks up against Penn State/Utah/Hawaii? BUP, at best, was solid OOC and that's pretty arguable.

    3. You could say I have an inferiority complex or you could say that it's all about Duck snootiness (and it's possibly a combination of both). Whatever the case, I NEVER root for the Ducks. I've said it before, but you can pick the most loathsome college team (USC, BYU, Notre Dame, Michigan, any of 'em) and I'm fan when they play the Ducks. State pride? Out the window. I'm always good with a Duck loss. Always.

We lost AT USC, not at our house. We beat them LAST YEAR at our house though.

No, you guys had a tougher OOC... but that probably was the difference between you guys going 1-2 in your ooc and then us going 2-1 in ours.

LOL, ok. I guess that is the difference between ducks and beavers. I don't really think we look at you guys like you look at us. For some of you guys its a good season as long as the Ducks struggle.

I honestly don't think you guys have an inferiority complex, well most of you. I think some Beaver fans are annoying as hell though (maybe you and Haak).

Really?! That is the best you could do? Sorry our Heisman leading QB was out for the year and our 8th string QB was in. You and I and EVERYONE knows with DIxon we are in the big game.
OSU is a terrible road team and until I see them step up and win a BIG TIME game on the road, I will continue to have this belief. They are a good team who beats the teams they are supposed to but just implodes when they face any type of competition on the road. Do not turn this into Ducks V. Beavers, because I am not comparing Oregon to OS. I am strictly talking about OSU and their failures on the road.
    Lousiville 05
    Boise 04
    LSU 04
    Penn State 08
    Oregon 05
    Utah 08
    USC 07
Hell, even Stanford this year, who is comparable to Arizona.

OSU has a really good team this year, but Mike Riley's teams are not 2 things: 1) Early season starters and 2) Productive away from Reser. It will be a close game, and I am pulling for OSU so Oregon can knock them out of the Rose Bowl, but I just do not see it. If I were an OSU fan, Lyle would not comfort me back there at QB and I think Arizona has the playmakers to give OSU fits on D.

Ha, ha! A Duck loss does not give nearly the sense of joy and unabiding happiness that a Beav win does, but I've got to admit it DOES bring a certain amount of happiness.

Yeah, I can be annoying about it, but it's taken years to get me to this point. The gloves are off. Civility is just a memory. No state pride. Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take" runs through my head when I post about OSU/UO. There is only the orange and black. Go Beavs!

Clearly MAS is right about our road woes -- our abysmal recent bowl record is proof of how bad we are on the road and every single team he listed above was a patsy that we should have pasted. You're right, MAS. The truth hurts me more than you'll ever know.

Edit: sarcasm aside, you're right about the slow early season starts. That's been brutal.

...you forgot to mention the Cinci game [but it's a good thing most of these terrible losses come at the beginning of the year when there is still plenty of time to recover and salvage a decent record/bowl...I don't know any sane college football fan that would trade early road losses to good teams for a monumental collapse every November & a bowl loss, do you?!?!?!]

Please do not bring up Bowl Records when it comes to OSU. Outside of Mizzou in 06, you haven't beaten shit!
The other good team you played this decade (Pitt in 02) handed it to you.
Notre Dame in 04, Maryland in 07, some shitty MWC team (New Mexico? in 03) are good ways to pad your bowl stats. I hate when people think OSU is so superior in regards to bowl games just based on record, but look who the fuck they have played?!?!

All I want to see is OSU step up and win a huge game on the road or a neutral site once in a while. That is my argument. Not OSU/UO, nothing else.

heh. Alright man, more power to ya.

But the signs of a well coached team is improvement throughout the year, and the Beavers have that. They have a gold mine with Riley there, I hope he never leaves.

Fine. Keep in mind, the sampling isn't huge -- it's not like you play a top 25 opponent on the road every week. Maybe only a couple times a year. Also, it's a little aggressive to discount all our bowl games, but whatever.

I only looked at the last couple seasons. Two years ago, we beat Hawaii on the road when they were ranked #24. Last year we beat Cal on the road when they were ranked #2, we beat the Ducks on the road when they were ranked #18 and we beat Maryland on the road when they were ranked #25. This season we lost the two games we played against ranked opponents.

On the other hand, the Ducks have beaten no ranked opponents on the road this year. Last year they beat South Florida on the road when they were #23. Two years ago, no wins against ranked opponents on the road.

Edit: To get the above info, I used each team's website (which I assume are correct.) I'm telling you, I felt dirty clicking on goducks.com.

Theres no way in hell Maryland was ranked, they finished with a losing record!
The Ducks being 18..ya that's what it says, but we were no where near a top 50 team
Cal was a fraud at #2 as shown by finishing the season with 6 losses
Hawaii was a decent win, but I liken them to Tulsa this year. Put up big points and wins over their shitty ass conferene, but when they play a BCS team, they lose.

Again QUIT comparing OSU to UO, I have stated multiple times, this is not a UO OSU debate, I am strictly talking about OSU hear. Fuck, can the Beavers do one thing without comparing them selves to UO.

Nice approach -- keep limiting the parameters in a vain attempt to try and create a winning argument. Throw in a couple f-bombs and you're rolling!

Look, if you can't use top 25 rankings as an indicator of a "good" team, what are we left with? Squabbling over opinions and Tulsa comparisons? I don't see how you can argue with the methodology of looking at road wins over top 25 teams. It's crazy.

As for the comparison aspect, me listing only OSU wins wouldn't give much of a feel for what the numbers mean. And, this IS an OSU/UO thread. It would've been absurd not to include it; although, I'd rather not have spent the time digging up the info (and going to goducks.com).

No matter what way you look at it, the last 3 years OSU has been as good as anyone in the Pac-10 outside of USC!

But the last 2 years so has Oregon. (last year and this year)

I'm really happy with a bye week this weekend, and I am lookin' forward to watching the OS vs Arizona game. You lookin' forward to that game mobes? Huge game for the program huh?

There's no denying OSU has been good recently, but they still are subpar on the road. Bottom line. Penn State and Utah and Stanford proved it AGAIN this year.
