5 of the top 7 teams in the league are East teams. Is the East better this year or it is a mere early season fluke?

Well i can think of at leas two teams that are better....Atlanta and Miami. Philly should eventually be better. Totonto is better. Washington is a little worse. Overall i would say yes they are better.

The west rright now is not as good as they were last year. We will see what happens. Long season

The West was deeper last year, but the East had the 3 best teams in the league...at least 3 of the top 4.

Just the top 2 last year. Cleveland wasn't in the top 4. This year, they are though. They're the owner of the longest win streak this season. 8. If the Lakers lose tonight (likely), Boston and Cleveland are the top two teams in the league and 3 of the top 4. Then you have Detroit and Orlando. And Atlanta is 6-4. Meanwhile, teams like the Mavs, Spurs, and Hornets are worse than last year.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I'd say two of the three best teams in the NBA were from the west, the Lakers and Hornets. The Celtics were the best.

Who the fourth best team was, I'd say was a toss-up between Utah and Detroit.

Record wise, Boston and Detroit were best last season.

I'm sorry but Cleveland would have beat NO, Utah and probably the Lakers in a seven game series last year.

I wish Cleveland had played the Lakers last season. Would've been sweet to see LeBron prove, once and for all, that he owns Kobe.

    I agree Thrilla.

As for the main question, the East is much better this year and I'm pretty sure it'll continue that way.

No apologies necessary, I simply don't think that's remotely true.

Cleveland swept the Lakers 2-0 last season and LeBron thoroughly outplayed Kobe.

It took one of the best defenses of all time (Celtics last season) to beat the Cavs in 7, that's how close it was.

Cleveland would have beaten NO and Utah easily, and I would give them a chance against the Lakers any day.

Two game samples don't have much informational value.

The Cavs series was by far the toughest for the Celtics last season.

I'm scared to meet them in the playoffs again.

Especially after getting the news that LeBron keeps growing and getting bigger, by the time the playoffs come he'll have the body of a center. lol

Me too. After that series, the next 2 felt like cakewalks.

That's because they had to play the good teams in the West twice instead 3 to 4 times like most Western conference teams did.

yeah but they also didn't get to play the Sonics, T-Pups, Clipps and Grizz last year either.. aka 4 of the 6 worst teams in the league, aka 12-16 easy W's instead of 8 ;)

Plus Lakers get an extra 2 home games every year, which is an advantage to their schedule.
