Since it has been flying around that the Clips want to move Kaman and his contract (10mil a yr over 4 yrs) how much would this guy help us? I think he would be great inside next to Big Al and would prevent the constant "court-rapings" like the one Parker gave us, driving inside all the time. Of course I worked out a possible trade scenerio that would benifit both teams. 'Sota gets: Chris Kaman (10mil a yr x4) Clips get: Rashad McCants (2.6mil a yr x1 /with qual. offer of 3.5) Brian Cardinal (6.5 mil a yr x2) calvin Booth (1.5mil a yr x1) ------------------------------------------------ How it helps Minnesota: young big man to play inside with Big Al (15ppg, 10rpg &2 bpg) although it hurts to lose Cardinals contract that ends in time for the "Great Free-Agent Rally 2010", we also have 16mil coming of the books that year between the expiring contracts of "Rhino" Smith, "Mad-dog" Madsen and Mike "will I ever get to shoot" Miller...lol How it helps Clips: MONEY!!! With this they get out from under Kaman's contract and get 4mil dropped off this year (if they don't resign McCants) and an addition 6.5 mil drops intime for the "big" free-agent class! ***An additional idea I had was replacing McCants with Brewer (since the Clips could use another SF more than a SG) in exchange Minnesota can get back the furture 1st rounder we owe the Clips! An thoughts?!?
I'm sure they would, but I see Minnesota giving up both McCants and Brewer before they give up Love. We gave up Mayo to get Love....and a sweet shooting gunner who for some unknown reason Whitty only give about 7-8 shots a game....somethings I just don't get
They' probably demand Love regardless. Why would Minny want to have to deal with this anyway? You'd have three big men that deserve to start.
because they don't have a true center, and even though Big Al fills in well enough at center he is not a defensive presence. Big Al needs a Big guy at center who can block and rebound so he can go back to punishing PF's where he's more comfortable. The problem with the Love demand situation is that McHale banked alot of faith in trading Mayo for him. And with Mayo showing to be a great talent with charisma...trading away Love so early would show that they made a mistake and are going a different route. It's already bad enough were having to deal with the Roy for Foye deal....ugh. All the extra cash we got with Foye is going into therapy sessions and tums for the front office
I think other teams will offer better than that. Either in larger expiring contracts or better talent. You'd have to sweeten the pot with a draft pick I'd think. You don't give up a top 5 Center for what you're suggesting IMO, even if you're the Clippers.
No chance the Clipps give up Kaman. As dumb as Sterling and co. are, they wouldn't do that. You don't give up a top 5 center in the NBA for McCants and trash. The only way that deal gets done is if you throw in Love, a pick, or maybe even both, then you probably catch the Clipps attention. But with that? No way.
true, true...but the contracts do expire before the big free agent class...but I'm just saying there is no way Love would be traded in the deal...they already gave up Mayo to get him. But I do see them adding a 1st rounder though...Minnesota does have four potential 1st round picks this draft...and two 2nd rounders. I'm just saying with the track record they took with Foye (Remember when 'Sota got Foye they were so smitten with him that a potential rumor between Sota and the 76ers to bring over Iverson was nixed, because the 76er's wouldn't make a deal that didn't involve Foye in return) now if the brass wasn't willing to trade Foye (in a deal) for AI (who Garnett was publicly trying to draw to Sota) then I don't see them dealing Love either. Remeber, Kaman has a long contract (10 mil for 4 more years) so It's gonna make it harder to deal him then most people think...getting him would hurt many teams chances at making serious runs at the top free agents in 2010. The thing is Minnesota has put themselves in position to still make in impact in 2010 even if they take on Kaman's contract...they could have close to 25mil come 2010 to play with. But I do agree they may ask for more...and be disappointed when they don't get the offeres thier expecting
oh they'll never get what they think they will, but I think they will get better than what you are suggesting. And if the Clippers are stupid enough to think any of the big name FA's will even answer their calls... well they're in for a rather large shock.....
AGREED AND AGREED...I'm just hoping that after the dust settles and they don't get the feedback they want Minnesota might be able to sneak a deal in. McCants and Brewer aren't bad additions...not to mention 8 mil in expiring contracts...well 6.5mil expiring for the 2010 free agent class...I just don't see Love leaving Minnesota...but maybe a 1st Round pick. All in all I think Kaman and Big Al up front would be nice
