Wish he stuck around 2 more seasons. I think we could have won a championship for him. Good luck. HoF is JUST out of reach, IMO.
dam it this hurts us big time i really thought Moose would be back a few more seasons to try to get 300 wins...man it sucks that he is retiring thanks for everything you have done for the Yankees Moose
That bites. I would loved to have seen him come back for a couple more seasons and make a push for 300 wins. As for the HOF...I think he's got a pretty good shot at it. 270 wins is pretty damn good, and his 3.68 ERA is solid too. Do I expect him to be a first ballot guy? No chance. But I think he's got a solid shot at it.
He would had been an excellent 5th starter next year. Even if he had thrown another 2 years, not sure he would had won 300. Lets not forget what he had done the 2 seasons previous to this one. -Petey
True...he did struggle the last couple years before this one. I guess this last one kinda gave me some optimism that he had more left in the tank than I thought he did.
I like Mussina, have for a long time, even when he was on the O's. The thing with finesse pitchers outside of Maddux, they have years like Mussina just had, around poor seasons. Look at Glavine for example. I think he realizes he won't have had a season like this past one, and another few times around, teams would had caught on to his new game. -Petey
So Tim Kurkijan brought up a great point on last nights Sportscenter. The Muss is well over 100 games over .500...and everyone that is 100 games over .500 and eligible for the HOF is in it. He also had what, 17 straight double figure win seasons...something like that? Just some food for thought in regards to him making the Hall I guess.
