Gerald Wallace is going somewhere soon methinks, now is POR involved? From the link: "The Charlotte Bobcats have waived little-used forwards Andre Brown and Linton Johnson, opening two roster spots for perhaps future moves to shore up their thin front line. Coach Larry Brown has continually lamented his frontcourt depth, and the Bobcats have been consistently outrebounded in their 3-7 start. Andre Brown was signed before training camp and played in four games, scoring four points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Johnson was signed just before the start of the regular season. He appeared in two games and did not score. The moves Wednesday leave the Bobcats with 13 players, two below the limit."
I'd love to use LaFrentz's contract to snag Gerald Wallace. If Wallace is moved, and not to Portland, I'd become more interested in Kirk Hinrich. But for now, Wallace is my main hope.
After watching how well oden can work with a capable slasher like Roy, adding another like Wallace would be nice, we got plenty of outside shooters. And hes a vet at 26 who plays good D.
i could see outlaw, lafrentz for wallace. dont know if that matches. then webster fits where? batum? i dont think we get wallace. we need a pg. just pray its not dallas, spurs that get him
Gerald Wallace would be such a huge addition. I can only hope he lands in Portland and not Golden State or New York.
Wallace can play some power forward, too. He has in Charlotte. Webster's and Batum's minutes would be cut. But Batum is still learning, and would still get some minutes. Webster is a reserve-caliber player, so it's not an injustice to bring him off the bench in reserve minutes.
couple different ways that could go. If it's a pure salary dump: Stackhouse and Brandan Bass + 1st round pick? seems like they need more than that but Dallas isn't loaded with good cheap players. Could be a headache for headache swap of josh howard for wallace...
This makes a lot of sense. Stackhouse has asked out, but he's a Tarheel, and Jordan has traded for him before (that time giving up Rip Hamilton!). Brandon Bass is actually a very solid player, and he would do a lot to fix the rebounding problem. I can see Larry Brown loving him. So this is far from being a simple salary dump. I very much doubt this one. Dallas needs Howard, they've mended bridges with him, and he's not going to solve the Bobcats' rebounding problems. I don't really want Wallace. We're stacked as it is, and he doesn't really work with our style.
If we threw in Raef... we would need to grab another player from CHA. Wallace and Raef are 12 million different. It would have to be like Raef and Outlaw for Wallace and Nazr. 3rd team needs to get involved.
something with frye might wet larry browns whistle, he loved him in ny. frye/martell/diogu for wallace? then raef and sergio for hinrich hinrich/bayless roy/rudy gwallace/batum lma/outlaw oden/pryz doneski.
just check out: www.dallasbasketball.com i think the Mavs are in much more need to make changes than the Blazers. Larry Brown has always shown what HE likes and dislikes VERY quickly. somehting may involve Wallace, but the Mavs sure could use Felton or Augustin, one of them is expendable and I'm sure Brown has made up his mind which one he likes.
I believe Rice mentioned that he's actually a very tradable piece now that he has a reasonable contract. I don't want him traded but for the right player he's tradeable.
Bass averages 3 rebounds a game and is an undersized PF in terms of height. He also takes way too many outside shots, meaning he rarely get to the line and he shoots in the low 40s. If Charlotte is hoping for Brandon Bass to shore up anything, they are in much more disarray than I thought. Plus, Stackhouse is a bench player on a mediocre team right now and is 34 years old without an expiring contract. What a steal this would be for Dallas.
Looks likek Charlotte is going to sign Dwayne Jones and are also trying to convince McDyess to go there
