Are you implying the trade mentioned above is absurdly unfair?

I thought so too. Luckily, Pritchard is more intelligent than most of us.

No, I'm just saying a lot of these trade ideas are pulled out of people's asses and it just gets a little absurd combing through one after another after another.

Yes, this is a no brainer. I wouldn't do it because I think in the long run it would weaken the Blazers as a team intead of strengthen the team as it is now. The departure of LA at PF results in a weakened position and the acquisition of Parker would reduce Sergios playing time which he needs as he looks to be breaking out. Also, if we gave up JB, who knows what we would be losing as he hasn't had a real chance to develop his potential.

At this point in time, I say thanks but no thanks. And I promise I'll get back to you at some undetermined point in time in the future.

I'd rather get duncan for those players then Parker. Him and Oden would get us atleast 3 championships

I'd do it. It's easier to get a power forward next year than a point guard. i would target Boozer. Of course, I would rather have Duncan.

I dunno that is really hard to decide. Our team is so good right now as they are. Why mix it up? Sure Parker is better then LA, but our team is playing so well together and we don't really need another floor general. We got one.

And I really think we need to wait and see what happens with Bayless. He could be just as good as Parker. Or like a mini-Iverson.

By the end of this season, Portland stands a good chance of being elite without making a move.

An Oden/LA frontcourt is going to be scary sooner then later and Bayless projects perfectly to round out a backcourt with Rudy and Roy.

Think about it and be happy about how loaded the club is

When was the last time a team with a top 5 PG won a title? Would you have considered Parker a top 5 PG when Spurs last won? I would even go so far as to say that MOST of the time, Point Guard is the least important position for a championship team (See: Rando, old Cassell, old Gary Payton, Derek Fisher, BJ Armstrong, etc...) or they can't push a borderline team over the top (Nash, Kidd, etc..)

Championship teams are defensively sound and led by superstar swingmen and post players. We have something very good in the post with LA and Oden and sacrificing that for a PG wouldn't pay off, IMHO.

Here is my WAG as to a possible trade with the Spurs. I am thinking, if the Spurs collapse this year they may be a good trading partner. I don't think Parker will be available though. He is still young enough that if they rebuild it will be him they build around. The Spurs traded a couple of firsts last year to pick up Kurt Thomas so if they collapse they won't have much chance to rebuild.

    Spurs Trade
    Duncan

    Blazers Trade
    Aldridge + Rudy + 1st

This trade gives them two major pieces to rebuild with in addition to Parker/Manu as well as a pick they will need. Parker, Rudy, Manu, Aldridge is a good group that could contend. Portland gets the experience and talent we need to push us over the top. Duncan has a few good years left and as he declines Oden and Roy will take over the majority of the responsibility. Bayless can take over Rudy's minutes at backup SG/PG. With the cap space available this offseason it also works as a salary dump for the Spurs and lets them become big players in the summer of 2010 madness.

Here's my biggest problem with trading with San Antonio--RC Buford. If he's willing to do a deal with you, chances are you're about to get fucked.

The old saying, you don't trade "bigs for smalls". LMA type players are harder to come by. Plus you throw in Bayless? Tempting but no. I do love Parker's game though.

Duncan is just too old, LMA and Rudy are 21ish and 23 respectively, isn't TD pushing 33-34?
We have our core guys, keep them around. Just make minor trades to consolidate the team.

Duncan is 32. He will be 33 in April. However he is still playing at an elite level. Also, he is a player that should age well. He is not dependent on out jumping anyone. While we hope that Aldridge will get there it is not a sure bet.

As for dealing with Buford, I agree that it is a risk and we would be giving up a ton, but if KP wants us to contend sooner rather than later this is a move that could work for both teams.

How about just letting the frontcourt develop and have possibly one of the best frontcourts of ALL TIME? Parker is good, but think in a couple seasons, Bayless could step in and be a great player. The Blazers drafted him, they should stick with their plan of developing young talent, its working VERY well so far.

This might be a good point if Tony Parker hadn't won THREE CHAMPIONSHIPS. Or Isaiah Thomas didn't make Michael Jordan the Piston's bitch year after year after year. Or if Magic Johnson didn't lead his team to an NBA Championship as a rookie. But all those things happened.

And if it's about defense, why would you want Aldridge who barely plays any? Tony Parker is an excellent defender. If it's about great post players, why would you want Aldridge who's post game is average at best? The truth is it's never been about great post players, it's always been about dominant centers. When's the last time a PF lead team won a championship? Ever? And Duncan is a center so don't go there.

And let's not forget that Tiago Splitter is a great PF prospect.

The reason I'd trade LMA is because I see him as the most likely player on the Blazers to leave when his contract is up. He's a Texas boy at heart and I've always got the impression he can't wait to get back there. In fact he bought a huge, expensive house just a few blocks from the Maverick's training facility.

I understand your point, but I don't believe Tony Parker was the reason for those three. His MVP award should have been Duncans and at the time of the championships, I don't think you would have put him in the top 5 at his position. I would pick at least 3 more important pieces on those teams before Parker, I don't see his place on that team any different than the PGs I mentioned before.

MJ's trophies v. Isiah's trophies? Isiah won, 2? Then Jorden hit his prime and won 6, I don't think it's a valid point.

Great performance, but Magic was drafted #1 by a team that was already a contender in the playoffs the year before and has Kareem. Magic is a legend of the NBA, Tony Parker is not.

What I meant by that is that their are several criteria for Championship teams, one of which being Defense. My implication isn't that LMA was a better defender than Parker. I think there are several important criteria that usually hold true for Championship teams.

    1) Defense
    2) Explosive, scoring swingmen
    3) Dominant Big Men

I feel that we will have a very good defensive team, without Parker and even allowing for LMA lesser defense. I also feel that LMA will be a dominant post player and paired with Oden will allow us to be very deadly. I don't think adding Tony Parker has the same overall effect as letting LMA mature would.

He's fairly inexperienced still, this is his third season, I'll take average. As Oden develops and Roy and Rudy get even better, he'll be a constant threat to score buckets of points at PF.

I think a dominant center is counted as a great post player. I don't think LMA will be the one "leading" our team to a Championship. I think it will be Roy and Oden. But I still believe that LMA will be vital in allowing those two to rise to the level we need them to be, I don't think Tony Parker does the same.

    LMA is a better one.
