Vescey assumes its for Malik Rose. Bucher already said its for Jamal Crawford. I personally never believe anything they say so I think there's no trade at all but we'll see.

I rather have Jamal Crawford since he would fit better with Nellie's style of play at PG, would give us a big PG and another 3-ball shooter, and would make the Warriors the highest scoring team in the league surpassing the Knicks. The neg would be the logjam at guard even before Monta comes back.

PG: Monta, Crawford, Watson, Jax, Williams
SG: Morrow, Buke, Crawford, Monta, Jax
    SF: Mags, Buke, AR, Jax
    C: AB, Turiaf
    PF: BW, Mags, AR, Kurz

If its for Rose, great trade for the Knicks. If its for Crawford, bad trade for the Knicks.

I know harringtons value went down after it came out that he was wanted to be traded..but Malik Rose? They couldn't get more than that?

I don't see it being for crawford straight up.. crawford is playing rather well in D'Antoni's system.

if it's for Malik Rose... the Warriors got robbed IMO. He brings nothing to this team.

It would be a salary dump and they unload a disgruntled player.

The deal is apparently for Crawford.

UPDATE: Alan Hahn is reporting that it is in fact Jamal Crawford heading to Golden State in exchange for Harrington.

wow, like the Warriors need another guard... and why trade the highest scorer on your team if you're the Knicks???

oh wait, this isn't about the product on the court.. it's about money... silly me being an NBA fan and not a money guy....

I guess there's an opt-out in Crawford's salary after the 5th year (i.e. this season). Still, that's a player option. And even then, his salary is still worse than Rose's. So, if we bring in Crawford, we'll have a roster full of SG's.

and instead of being at 45 mil in 2010, the Warriors will be committed to 55 mil on their cap.

Yeah, Harrington for Rose only makes no sense. With David Lee it would be OK, but that's a bad trade for the Knicks. Maybe a draft pick or something. What about Harrington and Belinelli for Lee and Rose?

EDIT: Oh, it's Vecsey. Wait and see mode = on.

Well, that's an interesting trade to say the least. At this point, I really don't know what to say.

    Good
    - Although we are not fleecing Knicks, we are getting a better talent than Harrington.
    - Ideal SG for Monta, because he can pass a bit.
    - He is thriving in NY with the new system, so he should do just fine in here.
    - He gets under 10 mils, and his production is not bad. He will be a decent trading chip in a year or two.

    Bad
    - He probably won't exercise his option, meaning we are stuck with him for 3 years instead of Harrington and his two years.
    - I don't know about him much about him, but I heard that he is pretty inconsistent.
    - Yet another player who likes to dominate and shoot the ball.
    - Uh... Morrow? Azubuike? Marco? I have a bad news for you guys...

Does he have any intangible factor like Jackson? Can he defend?

Man, I wanted to see how far Morrow can go, but I guess we now have Crawford...

The Warriors likely trade Marco next. Maybe they re-open the discussions with the Nets.

Yeah, now we might as well trade Marco. He really doesn't have a room in this team. I would love to get our pick back. Heck, we will even send Williams back...

Heck no, but Crawford can handle the rock and is an offensive force. Not as inconsistent as you think.

Wow, talk about a logjam. Yeah, someone else if going to have to go. I'd be shocked if it's Morrow at this point and I think they need Azubuike, so yes, Marco is the obvious choice, along with all those other guards.

Crawford is intriguing, but man, yet another high-volume, low-% (40% career, 43% this year) shooter -- just when I thought we might remove one of those guys by subtracting Harrington. He's also shooting only 76% from the freethrow line this year, although that is below his nice career 83.5%, and he's not a very good rebounder. Nellie just can't have enough of these guys. There needs to be 400 field goal attempts a game to satisfy everyone on the team. Then there is Crawford's contract, 3 more years including this year expanding to over $10M in 2010/11. Ouch. Well, I hope none of you have any more illusions about the Warriors being a player in the 2010 free-agency feast.

I was hoping for David Lee but I guess we could have done worse. Right? Hmm.

EDIT: I keep think about this and even though I have quite a few reservations about it, I still think we just robbed the Knicks because there is no doubt in my mind that Crawford is a better player than Harrington. I can't believe they just gave up their leading scorer last year for Al Harrington. It really seems like they're going for broke to get LeBron. Pretty huge gamble.

It's too bad Marco may be the odd man out in all of this. I think he deserved a better chance and he might have gotten it if we didn't have so many guards.

He's also a solid rebounder for his position. He'll be your best playmaker off the dribble until Monta returns. If he puts up big numbers in Nellie's system, maybe his agent will get greedy and convince him to opt out?

I think this trade improves the team now, but is potentially going to anchor us from doing anything for the future, including signing Randolph and Wright if they fulfill their potential -- I'm confident Randolph will but it seems to me Wright continues to get lost in the Nellie shuffle (not anyone's fault, really -- Nellie's doing what is best for the team now and Wright is playing the best he can when he can).

This should be interesting...hopefully there will be enough maneuverability next year as far as contracts go.
