I think this exactly the lineup this team envisions, with Yi and Anderson being above average shooters, stronger perimeter players and strong rebounders...kind've a poor man's Dirk. Which plays extremely well off of Devin's ability to drive.
If they trade 51 for morrison i quit!! I dont want morrison or carrol in a nets uniform. Wallace is a go!
Why would they trade Wallace? What is Brown/Jordan thinking? I haven't watched him, so someone correct me if I'm wrong, but he seems like the perfect SF for the Nets. Athletic, young, plays defense, and doesn't need a lot of shots to be happy or be productive. Personally, I say screw the Lebron sweepstakes, the Nets have a good team that could be much better with the addition of Wallace. The potential to be Finals quality even. And if it comes down to it, the Nets could always trade Wallace or Carter to get Lebron, so it frees up a position for Lebron to play on the wings anyways. I agree with NI though. The only way Charlotte does this is if they get Carter in return. It's what Larry would want, it's would Jordan would want, it's what the town of Charlotte (close to UNC) would want. If the Nets don't plan on winning many games this season then they could do it.
I agree 100% except for the Carter thing. I think Charlotte would be just as well off getting out from under Wallace's contract by getting expirings, youth and picks. When you have a financial crisis the best thing you can do to ensure you stay solvent is to cut costs, not bring on a big name and hope it translates into ticket sales. As much as I like Wallace on the Nets he is nowhere near the player of Carter and Thorn would never trade them straight up. Would put way too much pressure on Harris to lead this team and be the #1 option on offense, which would lead to even worse defense from him.
Well if any deal involving the NETs and Cats i think a 3rd team needs to be involved.... it's the only way it works, Cats looking for low post threat, NETs need a swingmen who can score when needed but imo someone who can slow down the opposing teams 3s.... we need that 3rd team.... i was thinking either LAC or GS.... off the top of my head: with GS Cats send Wallace to NJ NJ sends Swift & Najera to GS; Simmons to CHA GS sends Harrington to CHA with LAC: Cats send Wallace to NJ; NJ sends Simmons to LAC; LAC sends Kaman to CHA again thats off the top and i doubt any of those are possible but i would be VERY surprised if Wallace is NJ bound that Simmons and his contract will still be around... did anyone else hear about NYK gettin or on the verge of landing Harrington from GS?
I can't envision the Nets trading Carter, even if the team has its own financial crisis. I stand by my statement that they are a borderline playoff team right now. If the Nets just make the first round of the playoffs, I suspect that they'll recoup a decent chunk of any short-term savings they'd realise from this sort of deal. They have no chance without Carter.
Saw this over there too: Evening Scoop: The Price Of Success OKC should be the third team. Charlotte needs Wilcox alongside Okafor and they need Watson to help Augustine.
Guess they should have drafted Lopez, huh? I would be disgusted if the Nets parted with Boone just to get Morrison back. Sean for Morrison? Maybe I'd be OK with that--but only if they could also move one of their other wings. Simmons, Hayes, Hassell, Vince, CDR, Morrison, Ager--that would be fully half the team to play just two of the five positions (and I'm not including Dooling, who often plays SG with Vince moving to the point). True, Ager and Hassell are worthless, but they take up vital roster spots.
I'd be pissed if it was Boone for Morrison as well. Swat and Hassell for him I'd live with, but I much prefer getting Wallace at this stage.
i would be disgusted as if we gave up boone for morrison too... Morrison is not what we need, he doesn't bring any sense of D and i havent read/heard reports that dispute that... nearly all our young guns, imo, are untouchable or atleast should be.... i think boone is fully capable of playing C and with his added experience and energy he will be best off the bench. i rather we keep SWAT, i like his energy and enthusiasm from the bench and his shot blocking skill is rare to come by especially from the help side. i luv how he just stuffed LBJ, we need that therefore i dont want to move him, rather move Najera before SWAT
VERY interesting. I suppose talks will intensify by Feb if this is the case. I cant see it. No way we deal VC for Wallace. Thorn/Kiki are smarter then that? We can strong arm them into tossing in some draft choices and another prospect. Maybe VC won't be as PO'd about it since he'll be going home.
I still want Mike Miller. I recall reading before the season, from some scribe that follows the team, that he wouldn't be surprised if Miller were traded before the deadline if Minnesota once again sucked (and, so far, they have). Miller wouldn't help the individual defense, but he's a smart player who could do his part in team schemes, and he would absolutely kill from behind the arc and as another playmaker/facilitator. Very underrated passer. His contract expires in 2010, so there's no conflict with future moves.
