http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/78310 Part 1 of post: Getting Tex would round out an outstanding defensive infield, create another big threat in the middle of the lineup, and put us in the driver's seat for the division, regardless of whether the Yankees get Sabathia or not. Part 2 of post: If they actually do offer him this contract, the price for us to keep guys like Youk and Pedroia skyrockets (from an already high price), when the time comes to re-sign them.
I heard that too. I think it would be a smart investment on their part, that team hasn't had any real face in a long time.
If signing Teixeira means we trade Youk, then I don't want to do it. If it means we trade Ortiz or Lowell, then cool.
Believe it or not, I've heard a ton of people say they might trade Youk because he has a ton of trade value. Lowell and Papi are worth nothing in the open market.
If we sign Teixeira, Youk would move to third base, and that leaves Ortiz and Lowell to compete for the regular DH spot. There are teams in the NL (Dodgers, Giants, Phillies maybe) that would at least kick the tires on a third baseman that can still hit. There isn't a whole lot we can get in return for Lowell, and we'd likely have to eat at least half of his remaining salary, but the name of the game is just moving him. It doesn't even really matter what we get back. We won't have any glaring needs, the Coco trade added a good piece to our bullpen, our offense will be dynamite, and the rotation figures to be as solid as ever. All this depending on whether we get Teixeira or not, of course.
Please, Theo, make it happen. Yeah, there's no way Youk is getting traded. They'd sit Lowell and eat his deal before doing that.
http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/78874 Seems the Angels have shifted their attention to CC. Double meaning here?
