He's already denying playing time for our power forwards and substituting that position with small forwards. Just like he did last year. Pitiful. Goddamn, is Nelson trying to make the defense and rebounding crappier than it already was? I swear Nelson makes me mad. We were a better team when we started playing more Turiaf, Wright, and getting Randolph in there to police the paint. No more of this Sjax, Maggette at PF crap because they don't cover enough ground, they aren't large enough to box out or play inside the paint full time, and they're better off defending opposing swingmen than they are guarding opposing team's power forwards. We got to work on the rebounding and giving Biedrins a suitable weakside shotblocker/enforcer so he isn't the one always having to leave his feet and do the dirty work. We need Beans for rebounding. Get Wright, Turiaf, or Randolph in there next to him or something. Jeez...

signed extremely Frustrated with Nelson's typical game.

Oh and we just traded for Jamaal Crawford, which isn't bad unless you're a CJ, Morrow or Belinelli fan, but our defense and ball movement is going to suck even more.... At least CJ looks to pass. Crawford never met a shot he didn't like which is only great in fantasy ball or if you got a pure point guard running the show.

I want Wright to play. I want him to play so he can either succeed or fail. I'm not going to give up on Nellie playing him more consistently just yet. It's a little too early to jump on Nellie.

    Nellie = Genius

In other words, no one could complain about CJ Watson / Morrow because without Nellie those guys would be working at Macy's otherwise...

I'm frustrated too, this was an ugly game to watch. Jackson frustrated the hell out of me again. Nice shooting performance but EIGHT freakin' turnovers, including a few critical ones down the stretch. How are you going to win when your captain/leader is turning the ball over eight times? Jackson had more turnovers than the rest of the team combined!

Bright spots were Maggette and Randolph (despite that missed layup at the end) and Biedrins was solid as usual with yet another 2x-2x, 23/10.

I know Rose was on fire, but this is a game the Warriors just should not lose at home, the Bulls are a terrible road team. Larry Hughes was 1-5 from 3-point land coming into this game and he goes 5-7 from there tonight, inexcusable. We just let the second-worst shooting team in the NBA shoot 51% against us. Dreadful defense.

EDIT: Belinelli wasn't that bad tonight either.

I saw the defense playing the 3-ball at times, but Derrick Rose was carving them up inside. There was no interior D unless Anthony Randolph was in there with AB. Anthony Randolph was great and he could have given us a chance to win the game if the ball didn't slip out of his hand while going for the layup/dunk. AR was fantastic and I'm sure he just moved ahead of Brandan Wright on the PF scale and I expect him to get more minutes at the PF position. Yet, we did see a lot of replays of Larry Hughes getting revenge again on the Warriors. Who was supposed to be on him? Jax? Mags? And Lindsey Hunter was such a pest down the stretch. He may have won the game for them.

We need more production from inside, so it's time to trade Brandan Wright for Tyrus Thomas !

The Bulls started 4 guards against you guys and Gooden isn't exactly a C. Seems like Nellie countered with a bigger lineup that still could guard the wings.

I am going to give Don Nelson some slack. He was looking for someone to step it up to get the win, which in the last two games was Anthony Morrow. It just didn't happen against the Bulls. Having Azubuike out for last night's game does not help. While Marco, Randolph and others played decent games, it just wasn't enough. Wright was in there, but he wasn't that great, though he did get a couple of blocks. Maybe he should have stayed in there longer, but it seemed like Randolph took some of Wright's minutes, and he seemed pretty decent doing Wright's work with 9 boards and 4 blocks. It wasn't like the Bulls were pounding the Warriors on the glass or were being dominated on the inside. The Bulls won from their outside shooting, and outstanding play from Drew Gooden who always loves playing in Oakland. I thought the game was a very good game to watch. There weren't a lot of bad games played by individuals. Perhaps some defensive schemes will need to be made to adjust to what the Bulls were doing in the future. But otherwise, as much as the Warriors should win at home, considering that the team was a bit short-handed, I think all is ok.

I think the Bulls were trying to pull the shot blockers like Biedrins from the hoop, and just have it one on one, with making it difficult for the help defense to arrive. Then of course they were just on fire from the outside.

At least we don't have PJ Carelesmo as head coach, though it looks like he just got fired.

Rose scored 11 points in the 4th quarter. He was the best player on the court and frankly could not be stopped (or the Warriors refused to stop him). He looked more composed than any of the Warriors' veterans. That dude's going to be an all-star very, very soon.

The Bulls shot 51% FG , 44% 3ptFG and 94% FT. Tough to win if your defense yields that kind of shooting. Warriors just could not close out on the outside shooters.

CJ Watson needs to go back to highschool and learn how to run a fast break. That guy's a laugher running the 2-on-1 or 3-on-1. He's a point guard? wtf?

Jax was awesome. He did everything I was hoping he would to improve his weaknesses from last game. Much better shot selection and much better ball movement. Wait a second, he had 8 turnovers. So he's still being sloppy with the ball. Don't know if he'll ever fix that, but he'll never be a star until he does. Still, he looked better mentally.

You could tell Nellie stressed ball movement before this game.

As Fitz said, Morrow came back down to earth last night. He'll have nights like that.

AR looked fantastic IMO. Sure he made mistakes but he made up for them to. Made a turnover, sprints back on the break and blocks a layup at the other end. Jax would have stayed in the backcourt whining to the ref. Way to get back on defense, Randolph!

Damn, Rose is good. Did I mention that?

You should expect these type of lineups and lack of attention to defense and toughness with a Nellie coached team. He's always played small-ball and he's always favored guards and wing players ahead of traditional frontcourt big men. It do find it odd he's continued using this system when he played with some of the best front line players in Boston and saw how a dominant front court can win titles.

Nellie's philosophy is to run and gun, shoot 3's, and force a team into playing his unstructured style of basketball. Nellie has the roster of athletic wing players and slashing guards he likes, but I don't think this team has the efficient outside shooting needed for his system to work. Maybe Crawford can change that, and give them a bonafide playmaker on the court, and a lot of the upside of this team went out the door when Ellis injured his ankle.

I can imagine how frustrating it has to be for Brandon Wright & Ronny Turiaf. Both these guys have played hard, but can't find a consistent role under Nellie. Last year Biedrins struggled to find his rhythm, but he's made the adjustments this year and is having a monster season. If only he could shoot those free throws at a higher clip.

Actually, he's doing better. 64% this year despite a rough start, that's an improvement over the 62% he shot last year, which was an improvement over the 52% the year before that, which was an improvement over the 30% the year before that. He hasn't shot less than 50% from the line in any of the last 7 games. But yeah, if he can eventually stabilize in the 65%-68% range, that'll vastly improve his value, especially playing in crunch time.

He should be in the 70% range. I've could never understand why professional NBA players couldn't hit at least 70% of their free throws.

But as you stated his FT% this year is a far cry from shooting 30%. Yeesh.

Maybe a little better 3 point shooting would be a bit of a help. It would be more of a help to have better defenders on the perimeter. I remember Kevin Martin from the Kings ripped the Warriors as well. I don't think it has much to do with the bigs, but what kind of effort is being made on the outside. Marcus Williams is horrible at defense. Maggette has improved on that end, as Jim and Bob were saying. But the rest, including Maggette, I'd bet need to step it up on defense.

As far as Nelson's rotations causing Turiaf and Wright frustration; I think that right now, Don Nelson is trying his best to figure out who he has on his roster and how to play them, when to play them, etc. There certainly isn't much consistency in his rotations, and I believe that is because this is such a new and different team from last year, and it's going to take some fluctuations in rotations and what have you for Nelson to get the best rotations going. I don't think this is to any fault of Nelson's or the players, in this case Wright and Turiaf. I think most people would agree that both Wright and Turiaf have been playing very well. And when Jamal and Monta come around, it's going to be an even more different team.

The one big thing the team needs to add or develop is better man-to-man defense on the perimeter. As much as Nelson is known and famous for his wild and crazy lineups and offensive strategies, I am pretty certain that he emphasizes defense a lot. I went to an exhibition game at the Staples Center a couple preseasons back, where the Warriors were playing the Hornets in this preseason tournament. There was nobody, or not very many people there. So you could hear Don Nelson scream and everything, and I think he's pretty much as firm and animated on defensive play as he is for offense. He definitely favors offensive advantages when he can take them. But he isn't very light on defense.

It's kind of interesting where the Warriors beat up on the (bigger) Blazers, then the Blazers beat up on the Bulls, and then the Warriors fall to the (smaller) Bulls. I guess that's the parity in the NBA, and also the importance of matchups. We just didn't have anyone to stop Rose. Maybe Monta will be that player.

I love Nellie because he's resurrected the W's twice but I'm starting to see why they say he cannot win with big guys. He's got Brandon Wright and Randolph and he refuses to play them. It doesn't even look like he tries to coach them (at least in games.) Look at how he's treated Turiaf; that guy gets $4M per and he's a 10 min guy? Wow. Diop could do that for less. Really makes me wonder that if he had Duncan, he'd surround him with 4 guards too.

Morrow? Nelson? Okay, they may have earned some time but let's get real, they are not going to be the foundation. Nor is CJ. Its not like Wright, Belinelli and Randolph are slackers like Tyrus Thomas/Darius Miles that dog it and feel entitled. They play hard. Let's play them.

Yeah I'm pissed at Nellie. He's killing Bellinelli's confidence along with those of Wright and Randolph. Luckily some how Biedrins survived.

I'm sorry, let's get back to Mully and get a true teacher, some one who can develop the young players. Something tells me that D'Antoni would get more out of our young players.

I thought Brandan Wright played well tonight in the limited minutes he had. We should keep him and trade Nellie.

I see what all of you gentlemen are saying, but I just can't stand matchups where the only guy defending the basket has to leave his feet to challenge a shot and none of the other front court players are big enough to put a body on a guy and get the rebound. It's like having Harrington at PF all over again. Biedrins contests a shot and nobody is sight to defend the rim on the hand off. Complete break down on defensive/rebounding positioning. We'll be giving up double digit offensive rebounds to any one player every night if we're not playing bigger ball and setting the tone in the paint.

Then with this Jamaal Crawford signing... don't think it's going to help much considering he doesn't add much besides shooting. He's a scorer, not a passer, and his defense is pretty lame. The only positives that Crawford brings is he doesn't suck, he's got a good crossover, he makes free throws, and he's a decent end of game finisher.

I just really dislike Nelson's coaching philosophy because if we never develop our big men, we'll never build for the future. The money is in how well you anchor the paint on both ends of the floor, not how many ugly, high volume shots you put in from outside. Mark my words our rebounding situation will get worse once Nelson substitutes a power forward sized center and 2 wing players and two combo guards. If Nelson was going to do this crap all along, the Sjax signing looks really stupid because Sjax was supposed to be in support of delivering the ball inside, not being this drive and kick player that Baron was. Nelson is a good coach at what he does and we'll get some cheap wins here and there (at the sacrifice of defense) but it won't mean anything for building a strong foundation of bigs for the future. I believe we have a great collection of future bigs, but Nelson wants them to assume the role of guards and small forwards. Those positions typically don't help us in the areas we need like inside scoring, rebounding, and defensive presence.

I need to settle down, but it's the same crap at Dallas where he forgets that it takes 5 guys to play defense, 2 strong entities that lock down the paint, and only one guy can shoot the ball while the other 4 have to have some structure to get the ball moving fluidly. If Nelson doesn't want to coach his guys like that or the team doesn't want to play structured style of ball, they deserve to lose to the crappiest teams in the nba. This franchise... damn... they just are not on the same page it seems. Crazy ownership, crazy coaching, contracts that go against what I thought they were trying to accomplish in terms of playing identity.

I have said it before and will say it again, Don Nelson is not the best coach if you are looking to win a championship. He is more of a regular season coach that will play his starters like crazy, have a good record, but get eliminated early in the playoffs. He doesn't use the bench as much as he should and is very inconsistent.

You can't expect a player like Marco Belinelli to get minutes one game, and sit out a next. It hurts a player mentally and they will struggle, especially the young players that Nelson never plays.

Harrington didn't want to play here because he wasn't able to play the way he wanted to because of Don Nelson, and that is the same reason Mickael Pietrus left.

Marcus Williams is now asking for a trade because he is frustrated and doesn't get to play. Same thing happened with Patrick O'Bryant, so he left as well.

Nelson is a good coach, but signing him to an extentsion was not the best move, imo.

I can get frustrated with Nellie but I ultimately trust his judgment. Dude's a winner plain and simple. He hasn't won any championships but how many times has he been favored to? Usually in the NBA, with 7 game series, you can pick out two or three teams who are going to win the championship in a given year and it'll probably be right. There just aren't many upsets and Nellie usually isn't favored. Hes never had a Shaq/Duncan/Hakeem/Jordan who've won nearly all of the championships in the last 15+ years.

His style of coaching can be frustrating but godamnit it works. At least in the regular season. Hell hes gotten some impressive playoff wins too, several of which he was a heavy underdog in. I want to win a championship but I'm also sick of seeing the Warriors suck all the time. For my whole life the only success the Warriors have had is under Nellie. If I recall there has been a total of zero winning seasons without Nellie since I was born.

I want them to win a ring and it'd be nice if we had a traditional style team but I'll take the winning when I can because its been gone for so long. As crazy as Nellie is hes producing winning teams and making the Warriors fun again. We actually have a future because he knows how to develop players even if he does it in a weird way. Who would we replace Nellie with who would do any better? We saw Muss and Monty try to play traditional style basketball and it was a failure because we just don't have the personal. Sadly there aren't many teams who have great low post players. Best case scenario we could be like the Bulls under Skiles- rely on defense, grit, and perimeter scoring. And those teams were way more boring and even noticeably less successful than Nellie's recent GS teams.

It seems like most fans can't stand their team's coach. Nellie can be frustrating but I have confidence in him to run the team successfully, even if it isn't in the traditional way. There's always something to complain about but all in all I've liked Nellie here in GS.

I wouldn't expect Nelson to groom players. Just look at his dismal record:
Matt Barnes - starting SF and doing well in PHX
MP - starting SF and doing better in Orlando
Murphy - starting PF in Indiana
Dunleavy Jr - starting SG in Indiana
POB - backup C in Boston
Foyle - backup C who still sucks in Orlando, but was re-signed

I'm not saying I want these guys back, but we could have kept Matt Barnes and not signed Mags if we had better evaluation of our players.

I don't like the argument (not that it has been mentioned here) that Nellie can't win a championship as a coach. He simply hasn't had the personnel to make that possible. Let's not forget he's won multiple championships as a player so I think he knows what it takes.

Also, his style of coaching has won championships...remember the Showtime Lakers? Nellie's just never had a Magic or a Kareem.
