another sub par performance from Yi, but ryan anderson and sean williams did play well and helped contribute to the Win! I hope Frank starts thinking about the PF position for the short term anyway.
I got one name for you concerning Yi... Dirk Nowitzki and it was Kiki who taught him how to shoot. Yi is at the same age Dirk was when he learned the game better. Give him time...oh yeah...no chance Boone or Ryan Anderson is a better overall player than he can be at PF. Yi is 21 yrs. old and learning to adjust to the NBA.. BE PATIENT !
Your judging Yi when he is younger than Ryan Anderson and has more upside, if you watch these 2 in practice you'd know he isn't on Yi's level, Ryan 's offense in limited game action is a different story because the league doesn't know him, he can ball vs bench guys but not consistantly vs starters. Yi is still the better player.
all i know is at the end of games or in the fourth quarter Ryan Anderson is usually the one in not Yi.
Because Yi gets into foul trouble, he's learning the NBA it's an adjustment that is tougher for him since he hasn't balled day to day vs American ballers. Oh correction I forgot Ryan is 20, but his skill set isn't where Yi's will be when he gets it. The off dribble moves, the defense, the versatility that Yi has the lead on.
Right now its pure speculation on your part. They are both young prospects one drafted a year earlier and 15 spots higher. Although, i believe after this year Ryan anderson will be considered a steal of the draft. Two years after Yi is drafted nobody is calling him a steal just yet at the lottery position of #6. I agree with you that time will tell, and i believe Yi will have a tougher time because of his commitments of court, and change of culture. Ryan plays the same position and is playing well now, you assume ryan won't continue to grow as much or more than Yi will. Time will tell.........
As someone else said, Anderson is younger. Why does Yi have more upside? You watch them in practice? What will the league learn about Anderson and be able to use against him? Ryan plays more 4th quarter minutes than Yi, so how is he only scoring against bench guys? How is Yi better? Anderson has absolutely outplayed him.
Ryan's upside is Matt Bonner or a Linas Kleiza, you watch Yi his upside if he hits his potential is a Dirk Nowitzki or a Bargnani. You don't see it now but in time you'll see him seperate himself from this comparison. Just like the draft night when I told you guys Brook Lopez was a stud we'll come back to this thread.
His potential?? some here say anderson could be the next KVH, or bird. What should we do just take your word for it?? Come on comparing him to dirk is nice, but its pure speculation. Lets discuss what he does on the court shall we, oh and btw, getting into foul trouble alot means he's not playing great defense. Think about it....
How come Yi's potential = Dirk and Anderson's potential = Bonner? As for as skills go, both are very good shooters, although Anderson has been much more efficient. Not even close, actually. Anderson has good dribbling and passing skills. His IQ and court sense are clearly better than Yi's. Why is Yi better?
If it's so apparent, why don't you tell me? There's a reason Arenas went 31 and Ginobili went 57, you'll see.
Can you explain to me why Nikoloz Tskitishvili, Darko Milicic and Rafael Araújo were lottery picks as well?
That's different from being considered top 10 in the world for a year at that position don't you think ? I know your probably a big Ryan Anderson fan hey I'm a fan of his too but on thier best Yi is the better player. Arenas and Ginobili funny you went there meanwhile Ginobili is the better all around player when healthy but was passed up because of his body and what scouts said about him transitioning into the NBA. Yi has those same questions about him but he is the better talented player between him and Anderson.
