Depth is going to be scary and frankly the question is who has to get put on inactive status for games. Basically the choices are Batum, Bayless or Diogu. No idea which direction you go. Diogu is the 5th big currently. Can we just have the main four plus Outlaw?
We need a 3 for 1 deal..like it or not, it has to be done so our guys get enough playing time. As long as the big 5 (big 3 + Rudy/Trav) and possibly Batum are kept, I am good.
Yup. We're begging for some serious locker-room disharmony if some of these young guys aren't allowed at least the opportunity to play. This is one of the major drawbacks of having most of your roster on rookie scale deals and all being within a year or two of each other; guys need opportunities to show what they can do or they're out some serious money or out of the league altogether, and they don't have the luxury of biding their time waiting for old dudes to retire or decline.
The players with the most to lose are: - Serg - Channing - Ike Right? I mean Blake and Travis have one more team option year on their contracts. They don't need to necessarily fight for anything right now. Nic and Jerryd while talented have another 3 years minimum with us. They're not going anywhere and I don't think either would be slighted or not understanding if they were asked to sit and learn through the year. Martell got his dough and is coming off of foot surgery. He's even said he's fine with coming off the bench. Randolph is just happy to have made the team. So those are the three possible troublesome players above, right? Sergio's getting his increased minutes. Ike hasn't warranted getting minutes. Channing is playing about the same minutes, but obviously that can change with Martell coming back. Frye is the only one I'm worried about. And if after talking with him, KP learns that financially-speaking Channing deserves more time to secure a good-sized deal, then move him for nice asset. But, knowing Frye and how beloved he is by the city, I wouldn't be surprised if he's completely fine with his role and being apart of something special.
Make Outlaw the primary backup PF. Channing hasn't done anything to keep his spot. Move Webster back into his starting role with Batum as his primary backup. Bingo, Bango, Bongo, done...
I agree with this. When an opponent has a power forward that cannot be guarded by Outlaw (and Aldridge is in foul trouble and/or neither Oden nor Joel can guard him, either) Frye will still be on the bench to bring in as needed. Ed O.
