I never thought the Lakers would ever recover when they traded Shaq.

Kupchak or however you spell it was looked at as a joke of a GM but man, what a job he has done.

His biggest mistake was not trading Kobe for the Bulls for the reportedly agreed upon package where the Bulls somehow kept both Gordon and Deng.

If their future is this bright from trading Shaq, imagine how bright it would be if they traded Kobe too!

Just a quick question, are we the only team in league history to rebuild, while remaining competitive?

My guess is probably not, but I can't really think of any examples off the top of my head.

Funny thing is, in a couple years the Lakers will probably be getting Shaq back.

I don't think Shaq comes back to the Lakers, at least not as a player. I think he's probably going to retire at the end of his current contract, which will take him to what, his 38th birthday? Something close to that. Regardless, he won't be overly effective at that age and I doubt he could ever concede to being a back-up either.
