Isn't LeBron best friends win Jay-Z? And isn't Jay-Z part owner of the New Jersey Nets? And aren't the Nets also going to have a lot of cap space in 2010?

This all true...but the difference is two big reasons....

1st Reason: Although they are in close proximity the New York Knicks are a much more marketable team and with the Nets possible sale by owner Bruce Ratner (link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Jersey_Nets) and new arena construction in flux the Nets might remain in New Jersey...making New Jersey a less desirable location than New York. (LeBron gets a 10 mil bonus from Nike for signing with a top 3 market team...New Jersey isn't but a New York move to Brooklynn could...ie; no move...no bonus!)

2nd Reason: Is actually about 10 million reasons....as in cap space for the 2010 free agent class. With the recent deals by the Knicks they have freed up enough to be sitting at 43 mil under the cap (with the Nets sitting at 32 under...link: http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-player-salaries/team/Nets/) Although 32 mil is enough to sign Lebron...the 43 new York will have is enough to get both LeBron and another top tier free-agent running mate...

...So the opportunity of more Market value (ie; MONEY) and a chance to start a dynasty with another YOUNG* star for years to come....hmmmm...makes you think

***Note I say young in regards to Vince Carter...altough still a very good player...his pention to be the superstar coupled with the fact his age keeps him from competing at this level as long as some other names coming out in Free agency in 2010***

    Yes indeed.

I am kind of bummed that Randolph was dealt to the Clippers though, because I have Kaman and Randolph on my fantasy team, and now they have to share time with Camby in the post which means worse stats from either Kaman or Randolph or both. Plus I don't think the Clippers score as much as the Knicks. But maybe that will change now. Also that deal may not help the Warriors as they are in the same division.

As far as the Knicks deals, I kind of like them from the Knicks' point of view. Even though they were going to be a playoff team, at least from how things were looking, they were not going to compete for a title with that roster. So the GM was wise enough to see that, so they dealt a couple of big contract guys away while their stock was high and are now focused on making BIG moves for the future. I like that foresight, compared to how the Warriors in the past have always settled for constant mediocrity (not that I want to see the Warriors do what the Knicks did now, since they are in totally different situations).

Based on what I've witnessed on Al Harrington, I've formulated the following conclusion:

    He sucks.

Thank God we got him solely for contract purposes.

With tonight's game he's shooting 32.5%. Wow, that's just...just...I don't know that I've ever seen a starter's shooting % that low in the NBA. I mean there's Stephen Jackson bad and Cory Maggette bad and Baron Davis bad (40%, 38%, and 39%, respectively), Harrington is taking bad to a whole new level.
