I expect some up and down performances, but I really do want to believe that VC and DHarris can keep up this production year long. Thoughts?
as long as devin gets to the lane... it will be fine and as long as vc isnt goin to settle for jumpers and continues to post up... he will be fine... so ya i think they can keep it up!!! i love the nets... I LOVE THE NETS GO NETS!!!
Health is an important factor for both, obviously. Health permitting, I think they will keep it up. This is all new and exciting for Devin as he is really making his mark as a legitimate star for the first time. He's developed a lethal signature move, that sudden burst forward and pull back dribble for a midrange J. He's hit HUGE shots in numerous games with that move, and it's indefensible given the need to protect for his drive. For VC, it's about his legacy and winning and proving he can lead a team far beyond expectations. His motivation will remain high throughout the year, which has always been the most important variable in his performance. No question Vince will be subject to fatigue this year. He hasn't exploded on drives nearly as much in the last 9 games as he did in the first 3 and preseason, and he reputedly went all out in training camp, which he hasn't always done. So all the tough early practices he organized, training camp, and preseason rigors may have already caught up with him somewhat. But if Frank manages his minutes well, as he's been doing, and especially gets him proper rest on back to backs, he should be fine.
Because the Nets bench is better than it was last season...Keyon Dooling over Marcus Williams or Darrell Armstrong or Eddie Gill...they wont be playing humongous minutes, particularly if CDR can contribute. Besides, most of the Nets injuries this season have come in practice: Najera, Swift, CDR and Boone, all in the practice.
The thing I'm really exited about is that Devin Harris is only playing 36mpg at 25 years old. I see no reason (barring injury) he can't keep it up all season.
I think Vince and Devin actually feed off each other extremely well. Better than Carter and Kidd or Carter and Jefferson. Maybe it's the offense? They're both attacking a lot. Maybe it's a mentor/protege thing? Whatever it is I like it and I think it can be sustained.
