Kiki admitted Skita was because he took a scouts advice against his own, meanwhile how about Kleiza, Nene and and the 2 PG tandem. You look at Denver before Kiki got there it was a mickey mouse organization, he got there drafted Melo (easy part) and built a core. Darko was Larry Brown and NBA scouts falling in love w/ international players when they weren't at thier peak, Araujo I can't can't explain and how dare you make me answer a Rob Babcock move.

Anderson has been much better. That's why I'm a fan of him. Again, why does Yi have a higher ceiling?

Because he does according to many scouts. It's not just one person, you think Frank is starting Yi just because he's Japanese..com'on man. It's not even close on his best day Ryan Anderson may be a spot starter while Yi has the potential to be a legit scoring SF a #2 or #3 option. We'll chat about this later I got to go out in that damn cold again.

You still haven't given me reasons. Scouts can be right or wrong.

Anderson has been much better than Yi this season and he has the tools to be better in the future. His tools are physical (shooting, dribbling, passing) and mental (court awareness/IQ and confidence -- two things Yi doesn't have).

Whether Yi starts or not makes little difference really. Right now he is playing a rotation player's number of minutes anyway. With Brook Lopez starting and doing so well, Yi's opportunities have dwindle on offense with the starting unit. So having him come off the bench and being a main part of the offense with the 2nd unit maybe more beneficial to his development anyway. Just tell the kid to play and don't just restrict him to being a pick and pop guy.

LOL, we all hate Yi, just when we were getting good at bashing the snot out of him. He has a great game. Don't worry, we'll just wait a few games. Yi is bound to have a bad game soon, then back to your scheduled bashing!

you are referring to the one good game out of 4 aren't you. I hope he proves us all wrong, but as fans we have the right to question his consistent poor performance. This was a good one nobody in the nba will disagree. But when can we expect anohter one is the real question?

I think the main reason people say Yi has more "potential" than Ryan is because he looks much more athletic, he's a legit 7 footer, can shoot, and runs real well for a 7 footer. I think that's the only reason though. Ryan and Yi both shoot well but Yi is more streaky. Ryan has also been coming off the bench so he hasn't really been exposed like Yi has so what's not to say that if you start Ryan, teams start playing him differently and adapt to his style? I personally like where both are, Yi starting and Ryan off the bench. In my opinion, what matters is who finishes the game or plays in key stretches. If Yi is throwing up another stinker, like a couple of the recent games, Ryan plays more, and vice versa. As long as we win right? The starting or bench thing is mostly a mindset thing for the player and if Yi is sent to the bench, I think we'll lose him.

I agree with most of your post, but where you state we will lose Yi if he goes to the bench is crazy. That is to say he is a fragile as a 7 year old girl. This is the real world out there and if he can't handle that how would he handle the pressure of making the winning shot in a playoff series? I just can't accept a benching would destroy his ego so. If anything it would make him hunger to play better, and prove to the coach he needs to be starting.

I do agree with you that its who finishes the game. Right now the only thing Ryan Anderson or other young prospects miss is the starting jump ball. And, when Yi gets into early foul trouble Ryan Anderson really is the starter when he gets Yi's minutes because of Yi's defensive laps.

Anderson has never started. Yi is better than him practices. When Anderson can outplay Yi, then he should start. People throw up a crap load of Anderson stats, but when he as a 1 for 5 night, he doesn't get called out. Why? cuz he's a bench player, he's not a star. People expect less from Anderson and any bench player. This also goes for Hayes.

We fans watch from the outside, the coaches and GMs see things differently. People will always be armchair quarterbacks and throw ridiculous suggestions to prove themselves "smarter" than the pros.

    You're at Nets practices?

Anderson is not a star. Is Yi a star?

Speak for yourself I know Yi is young and raw a concept some NJ/metro fans don't get. He is starting to adjust to the NBA level and I stand by my comment when it's all said and done Ryan Anderson how some people rate him over Yi, that's going to quiet down. He's a nice bench player who can spot start and put 9 - 14 pts. in concentrated mins. he won't be better than Yi.

What's the difference between potential and "potential"? Dwight Howard was drafted out of high school because he was strong, fast, can jump high, has long arms. Dwight Howard had a lot potential. In Andrew Bynum's case, he's 7 footer, has long arms, maybe he was a little chubby and "lazy", but he too had high potential. There are other players who has potential, but potential doesn't necessarily translate 100% into good players, but teams draft based on potential, that's why Dwight Howard drafted higher than Okafor. When people say someone has potential, it's because he's physically superior whether it is size, quickness, etc. You can be a genius but if you don't have the physical tools, you are going to suck at basketball.

It doesn't matter which way you spin it, Yi has loads more potential than Ryan Anderson. If you wanna compare who played better in the last 12 games, that's an entirely different discussion.

Well, since this board started as a Boone over Yi forum, I want to comment on that too. NO... Boone is a center in my eyes... he can't do anything on offense except put shots back... I think his defense is fine but not that great and Yi's been boarding VERY well this year (I think he's around 7-9 boards a game) and in my opinion, that's the only thing Boone has/had over him. Watching the last couple games, I think Yi's improving in the sense that he's finding ways to be effective when he's not scoring a lot of points. Although that game where he played 16 minutes... and then the one where he played 22.... I dunno, we're 6-6, exceeding a lot of people's expectations, and playing well in a lot of different facets of the game. Why can't we all just be happy with this? If it aint broke, don't fix it. :-D.

This thread was started when Yi struggled for 3-4 games in a row, then somehow became another Yi vs Ryan Anderson thread. It just seems like a few people are a huge supporter of Ryan Anderson, and has to bring Ryan Anderson up every opportunity they can. Ryan played a few effecient games, but I don't see all the fuzz about his high basketball IQ or whatever comes from? All I saw was that his a bit more consistent with his shots with limited minutes. But of course I could be biased.

As far as boone is concerned, He definitely is a center. He's defense and rebound is not as good as say Ben Wallace for the team to sacrifice offense for. His inability to stretch the floor will just cause problem for everyone, especially for Devin Harris, who depends on the clear lane to drive to the basket. And seriously, I don't think Yi's defense is that bad. Yea, it was bad against the Raptors, but Chris Bosh will do that to anyone. I think Yi is actually better at defending bigs with range, because he has the length and footspeed to bother players like Dirk.
