This is in no way a hit against New Jersey fans...I happen to be a Timberwolves fan so I'm not being bias in this regard...just formulating my opinion...lol

1st Reason: Although they are in close proximity the New York Knicks are a much more marketable team and with the Nets possible sale by owner Bruce Ratner (link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Jersey_Nets) and new arena construction in flux the Nets might remain in New Jersey...making New Jersey a less desirable location than New York. (LeBron gets a 10 mil bonus from Nike for signing with a top 3 market team...New Jersey isn't but a New York move to Brooklynn could...ie; no move...no bonus!)

2nd Reason: Is actually about 10 million reasons....as in cap space for the 2010 free agent class. With the recent deals by the Knicks they have freed up enough to be sitting at 43 mil under the cap (with the Nets sitting at 32 under...link: http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-play...ies/team/Nets/) Although 32 mil is enough to sign Lebron...the 43 new York will have is enough to get both LeBron and another top tier free-agent running mate...

...So the opportunity of more Market value (ie; MONEY) and a chance to start a dynasty with another YOUNG* star for years to come....hmmmm...makes you think

***Note I say young in regards to Vince Carter...altough still a very good player...his pention to be the superstar coupled with the fact his age keeps him from competing at this level as long as some other names coming out in Free agency in 2010***

If the Nets move to Brooklyn there is no chance that Lebron will go to Knicks. But as of right now it doesnt look like were going to Brooklyn

yeah, it's starting to look more and more like that. Did you hear the Comment Jalen Rose made about the situation? Apparently he heard that LeBron wanted to join forces with Bosh and sign with New York....sick, sick, sick

He might as well sign a letter of intent to the Knicks. There's no way he can really say no. They're going to have more cap than anyone else in the running for him...and they're the biggest market in all of sports. PLUS, they're going to have enough money to sign not just him...but someone like Bosh, Wade, Amare, or any other of the plethora of big name FAs that year. That alone will lure him there. Cleveland....enjoy your last 1.75 seasons with him...because the only time you'll be seeing him after next season will be as a visitor in Cleveland.

    Money Making Manhattan > Brooklyn

The Knicks will always represent New York. It is the city's franchise. Brooklyn Nets are a microcosm of the city's greatness.

Plus with the economy the way it is, I doubt a Nets move is coming anytime soon.

I'm sure LeBron will have fun at the Izod Center over the Garden though.

Watch him not leave Cleveland. If they go to finals or championship hes not leaving. Why would he leave a top cleveland team for a crappy bad chemistry knicks team (sorry knicks fans). Its going to take more than money to bring him over.

The Knicks have enough money to sign LeBron and another premier free agents, such as Chris Bosh or Amare Stoudemire. So long as they don't take on any more bad contracts, this team can completely re-invent itself in 2010, and immediately be relevant.

I think if LeBron for some strange reason doesn't go to New York, he will remain in Cleveland. No other team besides the Knicks can offer him anything that Cleveland doesn't.

I don't think bad chemistry is an issue with the Knicks, now.

Yeah, he'll rather go to the championship-caliber roster across the river.

LeBron on the Garden: Every time I come here I get a warm feeling because of the history. It's not just basketball, it's everything: boxing, concerts.

The Izod Center is nowhere near as desirable to play. Neither is New Jersey.

First off, for the Nets to have a chance at LeBron, the Barclays Center has to be at least well under construction by 2010. I think that if he was offered the right amount of money he wouldn't mind playing in New Jersey for a year or two to get to Brooklyn. That at least has to happen for us to discuss the Nets getting LeBron.

Now, assuming this is the case, the Nets have assembled a lot of young talent. Devin Harris, Yi, Brook Lopez, Josh Boone, etc. I look at the Knicks roster, and I see Wilson Chandler and David Lee as the only players that are really nice talents. Danillo does not look good right now, the Knicks need to get some talent between now and 2010. Walsh pulled off a shrewd move kicking Zach out, but clearing cap will not be enough. I would definetly take the Nets' future with this current roster than I would the Knicks with theirs.

That being said, if the Nets have the Barclays under construction by 2010, the money is right, and the Nets continue to develop Yi, Harris, and Lopez, I don't see how you can count the Nets out of it. If one of these things does not happen, they can't get him.

You forgot to mention Nate Robinson who's averaging nearly 15/5/5 with 2 steals. Gallo is injured right now, so I don't know if you can say he hasn't looked good. But he has more than enough time to get himself together. Let's also factor in the Knicks have plenty of cap space in 2010, so they can easily fill in any void in talent with a single signing. LeBron admitted he isn't taking anything less than the max and I don't know how much the Nets will be left with after they sign a max player.

If LeBron signs with the Nets, he will have to wait at least a year to play in New York. That's not factoring that this recession can delay the project for several years, if not downright cancel it. Besides, Brooklyn will always be "the next best thing". I'm not counting the Nets out at all. I'm just responding to the notion that LeBron won't sign with the Knicks if the Nets move to Brooklyn.

Gallo's main question was not his ability so much as his athleticism, which is further complicated by being injured before he plays a game. There's reason for concern.

As for Nate Robinson, I've always stuck up for Nate on this forum and others, but he's not a talent the type of Devin Harris, or Yi, or Brook Lopez.

As for the Nets signing another max player, Harris has a contract extension that ends in 2012 if I'm not mistaken, so I don't know who else they would sign for the max off the top of my head. I assume they'll go after LeBron with all the money they have in 2010.

You underestimate the ability of persuasion of public officials. Ratner has a lot of pull in this city. Barclays has maintained its' commitment to the arena.

If Bosh signs with NY, I will go on webcam as I get the NY Knicks Logo tattooed on my chest.

Gallo has seen numerous doctors and they all said there is no structural damage - nothing 6 weeks of rest won't take care of.

Nate might be undersized but his athleticism more than makes up for it. Yi might be "more talented" than Nate, but he certainly hasn't been producing this season. The last thing the Nets need is for their 7-footer to be shooting a very inefficient 39% from the field. A few months ago I was criticized in the Nets forum for even considering that Nate for Sean Williams could be a decent trade because Sean had way more potential (apparently was the next Amare, lol). And it's only later that we realize results are usually more important than talent, especially if that talent only yields 2 points on an abysmal 32% FG the following season. Who is to say Yi won't fade into a similar obscurity? And Josh Boone is a 25 MPG role player at best and LeBron will not make a decision based on Boone.

The Knicks have cap for 2 max players and much more if they can get rid of Curry and/or Jeffries. So even if the Nets appear more talented in 2010, that can easily change by signing anyone else in the FA class: Bosh, Wade, Johnson, Amar'e, etc.

Ratner's influence means little. The economy is a mess and Ratner can't use funds which might not be available.
