I'll give him time to adjust, but I wish Nate would tell him to attack the basket. And if he is telling him that and he's not doing it then Nate should yank him
OK, so we trade Outlaw and LMA. Obviously we will get a Kobe-calibre player, who is perfect at every single facet of the game, since any other player out there will be much better than our 23-year-olds. Hell, let's trade for Kobe and bring MJ out of retirement. That way everyone here won't have so much to fucking whine about, except for maybe how many shots they both take...
Rudy is fine. I do wish he would look for his shot more often. He's not the gunslinger that I thought he'd be (meaning a rock chucker). He's much more controlled and is very intelligent and stays within the game most of the time.
just another ole school doom and gloom thread like so many during the dark days by the OP same MO but the team is good now....so its just hot air.
I'll tell you the problem with Rudy....He isn't getting the shot attempts....plain and simple.... Nate's offense is "Websterizing" him...." Go stand out there on the perimiter Rudy and wait for a pass to shoot a 3"....and a lot of times his teamates are not even passing him the ball when he is WIDE OPEN, opting instead to force shots...Yeah, that means you Outlaw, Aldridge & Blake....particularly Outlaw.....You know just b\c Outlaw CAN jump higher than other guys and manufacture shots for himself...doesn't mean he should...Someone ought to keep a "bad shot" tally...b\c I am firmly convinced that Outlaw leads in that department HANDS DOWN...Nothing more frustrating than seeing Outlaw pass up a good open shot for a wild, out of control shot...and it doesn't absolve him when the shot goes down every once in awhile either... I think Rudy is frustrated, and I can't blame him, I would be too....This team stands around too much, they don't push the ball enough and they don't run nearly enough plays for Rudy IMO...He should be getting 10 shots a night...MINIMUM IMO....Run plays for the guy for god's sake....How about some screens to set him up for some 2pt shots, what a concept!...I think I have seen that happen maybe once? twice? a game, it is pathetic...and I don't like the body language I have seen from Rudy lately...It is like he is bewildered and frustrated by the shot selection and lack of passing of some of his teamates....and apparently on Sergio knows how to work the alley oop with Rudy? Blake? Blake? Blake? is anyone home? I mean you can't blame Roy for going solo, I sure can't the guy is friggin unreal right now...but does Blake have Rudy on his "do not pass to" list or something? and Aldridge needs to watch Oden...yes that is right, watch Oden...and learn to set the defense up for a kick out to the perimeter, instead of opting to go solo...and Outlaw? He is a friggin lost cause...black hole on offense.... Travis Outlaw IS the square peg trying to fit in the round hole of this offense...He needs to go... I think Rudy is going to be a very good player , and it is VERY early to be throwing around superlatives (but I will), but the Blazers...err, that means YOU, Nate...need to learn to fit Rudy into the gameplan more or I don't see him staying here, once his contract is up, and frankly I wouldn't blame him....Obviously, Nate values Rudy's presence on the floor, and rightfully so, but he absolutely needs to find a way to utilize him more in the offense..... In essence...less Outlaw and Channing Friggin Frye chucking up shots and more Rudy...would be a step in the right direction....
Exactly . . . these threads don't have nearly the impact they used to with the team being 9-6 and full of young good character guys.
ha, he just likes to stir up the pot, who knows what he actually thinks. why did you get banned before mixum?
I was told that Rudy Fernandez was better than Derrick Rose, so Rudy must be straight up balling right now, leading the Blzers in the clutch, being a super duper star.
This is unreal. The level of annoyance you're striking is fascinating. I feel like I'm going to be watching you on Celebrity Detox or whatever that show is called.
I'd like to see Rudy put some weight/muscle on in the off season so can withstand the grueling NBA schedule better in years to come. Anyone disagree?
I don't necessarily think its on Rudy all that much. I think we aren't utilizing him (well more than think, I know we aren't) as well as we were in the season. We are just making him play off Sergio and turning him into a shooter. I think Roy could def. learn to play w/ him better. And I think he should be the playmaker on the 2nd unit much more than he is instead of Sergio being on-ball as much. Rudy's IQ is why I don't worry about him, and he still finds ways to contribute. Also, when he does score, its different than a lot of our players scoring. 10 points for Rudy is different than 10 points for Frye because of the energy it brings in the stadium. Those are my thoughts.
It could be that your just like every other hysterical, myopic, can't-see-the-forest-through-the-trees Blazer fan who wants the 82-0 seasons, the 10 championships in 10 years, the multiple Hall Of Famers and Celtic-Style dynasty right now and whines and cries when told to be patient, the team will get there.
I'm don't share mixum's outlook on the Blazers. But if there is crying and whinning going on when the Blazers ask fans to be patient . . . it's because Blazers have been asking Blazer fans to stay patient for 6 frigging years.
I think its the scheduling of the season and Rudy's body hasn't gone through an active schedule like this. The guys only had Nov 16-17 off before they took on @GS, CHI, a day off, then @SAC, @PHO, a day off then this 3 game homestand. Hes starting to feel fatigue and it will only take time for him to adjust.
Bottom line: all summer some people have been claiming that "Rudy isn't really a rookie!" Guess what - he is.
Like Batum and Sergio, Rudy has settled for the 3 far too often. He needs to take more mid range jumpers and put the ball on the floor and get to the basket.
