Ok first off Curry will not be anything like Roy. Just look at him, he's a toothpick. He's also much shorter than Roy. His skills are also not of a PG, he's definitely a SG and an undersized one at that. Not to mention but I think Curry will be a considerably better 3 point shooter than Roy.
I love Curry and haven't seen many other players I'd be interested in. Hansbrough would have been picked 18th overall three years ago, two years ago, one year ago. He will be better than some of the players drafted above him, but I can't say that I'm particularly a fan either.
I like Tyler but I think he'd be gone by the time the Blazes picked. I like Tylers crazed look he gets, like the time he was bleeding after being fouled hard. Hopefully he won't be just another Josh McRoberts 18th man.
Exactly... I think Bayless will be a better pro also... Bayless KILLED IT in the Pac-10 as a freshman (20, 4 and 3) and has all the skills we need in the backcourt with Roy... Curry does have the Monta Ellis/Jerryd Bayless thing going though, but I think Bayless is by far the best PG out of all of those players.
Hasheem Thabeet 7'3" Center UCONN. I wish we could trade a couple of players along with our draft picks to move up and draft the big man from UCONN. I have followed his career in the Big East and he has come along way. His offensive game is "raw" to say the least. Defensively I think this year he will break out and be a major factor. I could see UCONN riding Thabeet deep into the tourney with his definsive pressence alone. H Thabeet has GREAT footwork. He is silky smooth for a man his heigth and weigth. I would compare his footwork to H Olajuwon's at this point. I would only compare his footwork at this point and nothing else. He has that soccer goalie footwork. Keeps his feet together and is very disciplined in the paint. I have watched him this year already and you can tell he worked hard this summer. Although still a project, he has progressed nicely in the few years he has been in college. Hearing the story about Ike being upset having to guard G.O in practice makes the case that we need a big strong body who is not a stiff and can develop into a serviceable back-up center. I think this is the reason we kept the Mountain man as long as we did. Also being a Rookie he has a great attitude and was willing to do whatever it took to get better. We could clear out some roster space for Batum, Bayless if we were able to send out possibly Outlaw, Blake, Frye our first round pick plus our 4 2nd picks this year. Those are very attractive assets to a struggling team in the lottery just to exchange say pick # 4 for a pick like #17 ? Also look at how many teams would love to have Pryz right about now. Chicago anyone.?? My offseason moves for 09 would be to thin out the roster. Free up minutes for Batum and Bayless, especially Batum. Sign the only FA who is worth anything this year, and that would be Hedo Turkoglu. Great spot up perimter shooter. Draft a Center (Maybe Thabeet) and let him develop behind G.O and Joel. No major tweaking. Just adding a vet who can shoot and a back-up center for the future. Thoughts ??
I wish we could get him! I think he'll go too early in the draft though. UNC has a few good NBA prospects...
Honestly if you've watched Curry very much you can understand the Roy comparisons. But, he is 4 inches shorter and not a natural PG, so I don't think he'll be as good in the league. But he is a very good college player and it is easy to see why. He has that same sort of confidence and aura that Brandon seems to exude.
Guess we're not watching the same video. I seem to remember him making numerous clutch shots, including some drives and layups that look remarkably similar to someone else.
Actually, I'd prefer to trade the draft pick. We have enough young talent to develop- let's package with Raef in a trade for consolidation or lets trade for a future pick.
No we're not, Curry is not the slasher type that Roy is. He doesn't have a strong body and isn't able to back his man down like Roy. Curry's game is strictly off of jumpshots, a catch and shoot type of player while Roy isn't the strongest jumpshooter. Besides maybe Basketball IQ I don't see anything about Curry that reminds me of Roy.
I don't think he's Roy....it's that I think he's a better Blake. And that's probably the reason he's back at school this year: to develop himself into a PG that can really shoot, rather than a short SG.
I know it would cost them games so it won't happen but I really wish Davidson's coach would let him play the point so that he has a chance to develop his game and show NBA execs what he's capable of. As it is, I think he's a late first round pick, similar to Quincy Douby- elite college scorer but not enough size to play 2 or ability to play 1.
