Yes, what a hero. Ignore me and then post a thread that personally insults me in its title. This after he posted his phone number for me to call so we could "settle it like men".

    LMAO

Is there a way to have swear words blocked without having to block posters?

While I'm not going to condemn anyone by their choice of words, I'd rather read them even though I do enjoy what most have to say here. Not necessarily how it's said.

I gotta say even though cuss words aren't masked on this site, there's not much cussing going on in most of the posts. This thread is the exception due to the OP's request, but most of the cussing I see is in the game threads when the Blazers are losing or there's a bad call by the refs. For the most part people are pretty civil around here.

Yes that's some true motha fuckin shit right there.

This thread reminds me of this commercial. Orbit's best one:

Gutter language is used when people lack the language skills to make an effective point in plain english, and lack the class to know better. Frankly, anyone who needs to curse on a regular basis is not intelligent enough to be worth reading.

All those who can only disagree with my post by going into the gutter, go for it! Then I can set up my filters all at once. :-)

Gee, I had a post removed by the moderators because I called someone an "idiot." I guess I should have called him "an arrogant asshole," because that is apparently okay around here.

    I guess I'm still learning the rules . . .

I think it depends more on if a mod is around or not.

I'm all for the OP making this thread.

What we're trying to do here at S2 is put radical trust in the community members, and to try to foster an environment where there's little or no confrontation between staff and posters.

Where we've seen cuss words put in a site's profanity filter, we've also seen that the posters will masked curse anyway and all that does is make reasons for staff to confront posters over it. We figure if people want to curse and then resort to masked cursing, then cursing is really what they want to do on occasion. So why should we make rules about cursing and get into fights with otherwise fine posters over it?

Part of the radical trust concept is to allow posters to slam public figures, too.

Basically, we expect that if we all treat each other like adults, we'll all act like adults. No matter if some of us are under age (hope they appreciate the treatment). All we really ask is we treat one another with respect; that's the bottom line and the basis of our site rules in a nutshell. If posts have been deleted in this thread or there have been other recent issues, it's all been about not respecting another poster, period.

So why am I for the OP making this thread? Part of radical trust is encouraging people to speak up for things they feel would benefit the site and the community as a whole. Part of radical trust is letting the community members influence each other about the direction of S2.

I personally agree with many who've posted here. I don't mind seeing "offensive" words, and I'm rather pleased that people do use them reasonably.

What we don't want to see is S2 to become known for fostering bigotry or hatred or to become something beyond a site organized around sports. That means no porn or "dear penthouse" kinds of stuff. That's about the only limits I would favor.

Peace all, and hope you gorged yourself on awesome feasts yesterday!

I love swearing. Fuck man. I mean, why edit swearing out anyway. I mean the youngest on this board are fucking War Poet and I. And we're more manly than all of you. We don't go to strip clubs, they come to us. We don't drink beer, we drink Jack and Rum...mixed with vodka. We invented the Wiserhood so people could try and feel as robusk and manly as us. We go through bitches like we go through Kleenex when are parents aren't home. Suck on that mother fuckers.
