The UFC continues to trim it's roster (and highly salaried and underperforming fighters) by cuting Sokoudjou.

Sokodjou came over from the PRIDE Purchase and was a highly touted after two quick and decisive wins vs 2 top ten LHW's in PRIDE. Soko was 1-2 in the UFC with only a win vs released Kazuhiro Nakamura (another ex-PRIDE fighter)

Soko held out for a while and it's assumed he wanted a larger contract. He eventually did sign and due to the amount he was being paid has underperformed so he's now out of a job.

Chances are we'll see Soko in Affliction or DREAM really soon.

I don't like this move. The two LHW's he lost to (Machida & Cain) are both studs.

I agree, but most likey it's another case of them wanting him to take a pay cut and when he said no they let him go.

IMO he's still young, they're going to let him prove himself elsewhere and bring him back if he has success. UFC is quickly approaching a monopoly like status with DREAM faltering and Affliction having overspent on the talent they have. There will always be other orgs, but none able to pay half as much as the UFC can for top flight talent.. and that could be a problem as Jon Fitch has found out if you don't play ball with the UFC.

He is still a very young fighter. He needs to learn to pace himself better and not get discouraged when he can't knock out an opponent in the 1st round. I think we'll see him back in the UFC one day, when he enters his fighting prime. For now, I think we'll see him in Affliction where he can get some more experience under his belt.
