So I went through and removed a couple of the troubling posts. I'd love to remove more, but this thread is beyond being saved. In fact, it's mostly hopeless.

As it is, my opinion on the subject. I'm perfectly ok with swearing. In fact, I'd be lying if I said that I didn't swear. However, I don't do it just to do it. If I swear, it's typically to help get my point across more or it's in game threads, which, well, we all know how those go. Emotions get high...you get angry because of a bad call...so you vent. It's pretty common.

However, what I'm not ok with is the kinda crap some of you people were doing in this thread. Posting a huge, long post of shit, fuck, cock, etc., just to spite the creator of this thread was absolutely uncalled for and right on the borderline of being just fucking pathetic. In fact, it's probably the most useless and immature post I've seen in a long time, hence why that post no longer exists.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is if you must swear, use it in as tasteful a manner as possible. If you can get a point across by no swearing, than don't. We have the filter off because we feel it's unnecessary and we feel that you guys can control yourselves. So please, just monitor yourselves. If it's not necessary to swear, than don't.

This matters how? I know some teenagers more mature and responsible than some of my friends that are in their 20s. Age is just a number. Just because you're 15 or 17 or whatever, doesn't mean you can't be mature.

Quite a few people actually. He's actually got quite a few votes of confidence from most of the staff.

    Repped if I knew how.

I just wonder what language and words many of these posters would use if they were to ask for a car loan from a woman bank loan officer?

I can just hear it now. "I want a fucking loan for x amonut and hurry it up bitch."

They would likely be a bit more respectful I believe. Might utter it under their breath but probably not out loud.

Seems respect for all posters would not be a bad thing for this form. Some of you have a lot to offer as to opinion on the BLAZERS but do it so disrespectfully. Why?

Do we not have any other adjectives to use? It seems to be disallowed if one were to use the "N........." as regards race, because it is disrespectfully and derogatory. Are we not able or even willing to express ourselves in other areas with respect as well?

I am no mod and don't want to be. Just seems to me respect is something we might all strive for. :dunno:

I think this thread has put that theory to rest.

Obviously, there are some members that feel it is very important for them to use the F Word etc to explain how they feel about a subject. Unfortunately, it is not going to change those who express themselves in that way. There are many who choose not to contiously use the foul language. It sure created a big stir among those who feel strongly about using the F Bomb and other words similiar to that.
I realized something very important after reading the responses. It would be appropriate to have a Blazer Forum which the fans who choose to focus on the Blazers and not how filthy they can make a post. There are many who support the Blazers and have families who all would like to read the opinions of others without the adjectives that some on here want to use constantly. Yes, you get to say what you want to say. Yes, you get to swear when you want to. Yes, that is why you love this forum. For those of us that have different standards for our children and ourselves find it inappropriate to express ourselves using 4 letter words etc. What makes anyone think that it is just males reading the forums???? Do you think for a moment there are females that like to read on the Blazers? Think really hard on this!!! Read between the lines.

:biglaugh: Let me get this straight: my post was more offensive to you than *any* foul language because it was WEAK?

You have made my point, precisely.

I'm still trying to figure out what the problem is. We have an entire thread dedicated to swearing and cussing? In the basketball section of the Blazers forum? Really?

For anyone that doesn't like posters who swear, simply ignore them. Its not difficult, it takes about 10 seconds.

Having a bunch of ignored posts makes for a very unenjoyable way of reading a thread. If that's the best you can come up with, you're basically suggesting that people don't participate.

Dont mind shooter, he'll run his right wing crap all up in this board; he likes to stir the pot and explain to everyone that he's right and we're wrong.

What are you talking about? So, you think you shouldn't have to ignore posters that bother you, because it interferes with your viewing experience? You think everyone should just act 'right', and not swear, because its how you want things done and because ignoring them somehow interferes with your viewing experience?

How am I suggesting that people don't participate? Ignore posters that bug you. Its that simple. There's plenty of posters on this forum where ignoring two or three people doesn't block you from a third of your fanbase.

If half the people feel it necessary to cuss to get a point across, suggesting to others to put them on the ignore list if they don't like it makes for a pointless experience reading the threads. As such, your (and others') suggestion is a barrier to participation. Urging people to clean up their communication habits is a much more effective solution.

Then it just shows you how trivial your (and other people's) issues are. You want to abolish foul language from an internet forum. Please.

Yeah, like no one has ever managed to keep things clean on a forum... Some hosts don't even allow profanity in their TOS.

Obviously, we're going to disagree on the importance of mature communication.
