Greatest Defensive Player?

    Who is the greatest defender to ever play the game? Taking away all awards, defensive selections i'd say Dikembe Mutombo, for many years he's been a dominant inside force, and during his time on the Nuggets i've never seen a more dominant player in the paint.

    There was a guy named Bill Russell, the key to the dynasty.BTW - I love watching Mourning play this year, its so Russell-esque.

    Yeah Bill Russell. Also Rodman, Mutombo and Scottie Pippen and Hakeem Olajuwon of course.

    Bill Russell...he was the only guy who could attempt to defend Wilt Chamberlain.

    it was bill russel. he was so good at blocking the ball he would future guess the shots and just tip the ball towards his teammates. he was a beeeeeast. he was the best. theee best ever to play defensively and actually have 11 championships on his great defensive abilities.
