Plax thought he could get healthy by shooting the hamstring injury to death. lol, this is such a ridiculously improbably series of events. He wasn't going to play this week anyways, so that doesn't bother me. Apparently it only grazed his leg and he should be back in two weeks.
Lol this is bullshit. He was at a fucking night club. He got into an altercation with someone and they tried shooting him. No way in hell did he shoot himself in the leg.
The Giants don't need him. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they Shockey'd him at the end of the year. He has been nothing but headaches since he signed his extension.
Yeah knowing the Giants, they can just flat out cut him and they'll find somebody somehow to fill his void immediately. Just like they did to Shockey, Strahan, and Osi. As for Burress, honestly, I think he is stupid enough to shoot himself in the leg. He isn't exactly the brightest light bulb...
They already have somebody - Dominick Hixon. He's been great since the second they picked him up last season.
The team doesn't have a number 1 WR yet IMO (Hixon could develop into one), but I agree that they don't need Burress. Trading him would open up a lot of cap room for Reese, which is something he really hasn't worked with up to this point. That said, I don't think its such a guarantee that the Giants ship him out. Reese is a no-nonsense, decisive GM, but he's also very reasonable and pragmatic. He won't lose a guy for less than he thinks he can get later on, unless his hand is absolutely forced. And after this season, Plax's value probably dropped quite a bit. Remember that Reese did everything he could to keep Shockey on this team because he wasn't impressed with NO's offer, only moving on when Shock got into a shouting match with him and openly stated he wanted out.
This is all true, but the bottom line is that he hasn't been healthy for two years now, and now he isn't even helping them on the field. He's making too much money to not play, so if it doesn't turn around he will be gone - especially at his current price.
The more recent details coming out back up what you're saying. Apparently carrying a concealed unlicensed weapon is grounds for a jail sentence up to 3 years. I doubt he'll face anything near that severe but it does give you an idea of how badly he fucked up. With the official team stance being to wait and see, I think he's probably played his last game with the team. There's talk of deactivating him for the season and I could see Reese wiping his hands clean of this situation over the summer. Peter King made a good point about the way Reese structured Plax's new contract. Very little of it is guaranteed and the Giants could release him without having to pay much of it link). If they deactivate Plax before Dec. 10th, I don't think they even have to pay him all of the $1 million he was in line to earn this season. I think the one thing that pisses me off the most is that Plax's retardery involved Antonio Pierce. Not sure if you've all heard, but Pierce tried to hide/dispose of the weapon after the incident and has had to get a lawyer of his own now.
Thats the part I'm really interested in seeing how it plays out. The story of how (much) he was involved keeps changing each time I hear it. I've heard he tried to throw the gun away some where, he kept it in his glove compartment, he brought the gun to Plaxico's wife...maybe all are true, maybe none are true. If he gets punished for it, it'll obviously be to a lesser extent then Plax. But it'll still suck big time if he ends up missing time because of it.
