This is really not even close for me, It's Bernard King, if you've seen him play he shot the ball like no one has, had post moves, amazing array of shot selections, the Basketball net was glue to him.

what does having an "array" of shot have to do with anything?? i do believe bernard king is a top 5 offensive player, but no way number one. You dont need different shots to be good on offense....case and point the leagues all time leading scorer kareem abdul jabbar relied mostly on his hook shot...i dont know what your trying to say but i think your just picking the lesser known just because......well i dont know why exactly but thats how it always seems with you. first saying magic isnt in the top 10 all time and saying GP is better than cousy.......i dont know what your talking about in the old school sections anymore.....

His career high for points was 37PPG, and he had 2 seasons above 35PPG. Jordan was definately the greatest scorer of all time.BUT, scoring is just one dimension of being a great offensive player. I'd say greatest overall was....I'm gonna get back to this thread sometime tomorrow after thinking about it.
That is nice but what is his career averages? And when you find them compare them to MJ. I believe MJ is a notch higher. Very small gap though.

Well if this goes for who scored the most it is easily WIlt CHamberlain. If you mean who was the most versatile scorer then it is debatable. I'm not sure what the topic refers to though so i'll stay with my man Wilt. DOMINANT

I really want to point out this, and it was a general agreement of the board that MJ was greatest offensively, MJ had no where near the talent offensively as Bernard King, the measure of PPG really isnt relevent in this, I consider the greatest offensive player to be able to score the ball anywhere and often while having amazing accuracy, surprising as it may sound but MJ would barely crack my top 10 in the case of pure flow of offensive excellence. And even that's a stretch, MJ used athletic ability to score, while it isnt an attack at his game, when your comparing him to pure scorers like Larry Bird,George Gervin,Pete Maravich, and even Ray Allen, it's no competition of offensive skills. I think most of you misunderstood my topic, it wasnt ''Who has the highest PPG on the highest FG%'' and if it were MJs name shouldnt be showing up at all, it's no competition Wilt Chamberlain but if Wilt was playing King in a pure offensive competition cross court, King would just embarass Wilt so badly.
these are all worthy choices. king was truly breathtaking, as were jordan and wilt.but obviously, i think a lot depends on how you broadly you define "offensive player" . in my mind a truly great offensive player needs to have a solid handle, be able to find open teammates, move effectively without the ball, set good screens, challenge for offensive rebounds when his teammates miss, and put the ball in the hole (not only spot up, but create own shot when necessary). That's a long list I know, but all of them are facets of offense in a real game (as opposed to just sheer one-on-one offensive skills). Very few, if any NBA players that I can think of are great at all of these things. my vote for this one would probably go to Oscar Robertson. Though some others might have been better scorers, or better shooters and/or slashers, and (very) few others better passers: i can't think of anyone who did so many of the things that make up a complete, excellent offensive player better than the big O.i posted his name on another thread so sorry for repeating myself here, but don't forget: the man averaged a triple-double for an entire season and almost for his career. And while some argue that the game is more difficult today (and I'd agree in certain respects) it is definitely the case that with fewer teams the talent pool on each competing team went deeper (i.e. these were the days when a half-dozen clubs would have 4 or 5 star players, rather than 2 or 3). that's some serious offensive game in my book.
I think that for the best Scorer I would say Larry Bird. That dude was clutch. And could score from anywhere.
