This is easily MJ, surprising to see how people who have never even watched Wilt play though, say he is better.

I'm going to have to say MJ also, he is the best player to ever set foot on a court. He dominated on the court and he always brought his game. He had a well-rounded game, he could always drive in for an easy two and pick up easy fouls or he could shoot that mid-range jumper of his when he couldn't get into the paint. Him helping the Bulls win 6 championship rings just goes to show how great of a player he was.

Is there a need for this topic? MJ, hands down..After him it starts gettin tough with all the greats that have played this game, though and it boils down largely to personal preference..

Michael Jordan: I choose Michael as the greatest because thats what he was. I could go on and on about why but I would just be saying the samething everybody else is.As for number 2 im going to say Bill Russell who lead the Boston Celtics to 11 championships. Also he did a great job as player/coach in his last few years. Thats something that had never been done and hasnt since then.

Michael Jordan. No explanation needed. Wilt might have gotten mentioned if he won some rings.

Wilt actually had a 55 rebound game against Bill. Wilt scored at will against Bill. Russell simply had better teams. Plus Wilt was going up against 6'5 guys weighing 210 pounds. Wilt was jsut going up against so much less, it's really not surprising

It is MJ without an arguement. The topic should be "who is the second or third best player." Because MJ is by far the best player ever. I don't even really have to say why.

Wilt isn't that far behind Jordan. Wilt got 14 50+ games in one season. That is absolutly insane. Also the 100 point game. But Kobe is the next Jordan, easily.

Probably I agree with those who have written Jordan, especially if championships count as a factor (though I'm not always sure it's fair to award an individual "points" for championships; or to take points away for not having them -- so many factors go into whether you win a title or not, and most of them are beyond the exclusive control of an individual).that said, I'd say oscar robertson ought to at least get some burn for this award. Averaged a triple-double for a whole season (30 ppg., 12.5 boards, 11.4 asssists), and he nearly did it for his career (25.7, 7.5, 9.5). In fact, he might have except that he stayed on past his prime. But even with the numbers he wound up with, he's got to be the most complete player ever.Let me just put that in perspective by comparing it to this season's leaders: Lebron's scoring, Howard (or Ben Wallace's rebounding), Nash's playmaking. Can you imagine that all in one player?? Insane. But keep in mind also, when you talk about someone like Wilt, he also led the league in scoring, rebounding, and assists -- not all in one year. But basically, he decided he could lead the league in assists because he was fed up with people saying he was one-dimensional, etc. and he just did it.It's a fun question, there have been so many greats.

one insane note about Will: do you know they changed the free throw rule (shooter can't enter the lane until after the ball hits the rim) because of him: he apparently used to jump from the free throw line and lay it in!!
