Sorry I was referring to the topic as a whole and how most people were talking. Not Sodapop's specifically. It just happened that the first time I chimed in on it, was after his post.
None of us need (or want) you to feel sorry for us. Never said it. Never implied it. After the game, I put the orange flags back up on the car and drove back to Seattle. Congratulated my Duck neighbor this morning. Despite feeling sick about the loss. That's called losing with grace. Nice job how you handled the win -- it shows a bunch about you.
Well, I suppose the Beavers and their fans have had plenty of experience in being good losers. Now if you could just have told that to the idiot Beaver fans who stormed the field at Autzen last year and taunted my father-in-law and me during the game.
First paragraph was cheap and untrue (at least in recent history). Second paragraph IS true and FWIW I hate the taunting. It CAN be fine if the two sides are enjoying it, but a lot of times one side clearly isn't (and that sounds like your case.) Fans from both teams do it, but that (obviously) doesn't make it right.
Keep your head up, Mobes. You guys have a great future, and will most likely have a 9 win season... (and still have taken 3 of the last 5 civil wars)
Ha, ha. Head is still up -- the loss was a huge bummer, but I liked how our guys kept the fight up pretty much until the end. With a little over 8 minutes, we got it down to a 13 point lead and I was starting to see a path to victory (which was shut down hard and fast seconds later.) Still, I like it they didn't fold (and they could've much earlier than they did).
The game was much closer than the score indicated, imo. I think we have all been there, and we know it hurts like hell.
Was this Masoli's best game this year? He was pretty accurate and made some pretty tough deep throws.
Well, I'd say it was, yeah. I think his first half vs. Arizona was better, but for afull game... he really looked like a QB out there. Toward the end of the game, I was watching it with my dad, and I kept saying how proud I was of him. This guy had to put up with boo's when he fumbled once in Oregon by some stupid idiots who boo collegiate athletes. He only had like a week of not just practice, but being in the WHOLE SYSTEM before we played our 1st game! And then he had to start our 3rd game and went from there. So he is just developing as he gets time. You can really see him mature every game. Masoli's maturing and our RBs running like madmen took a backseet to how well our offensive line played... specially on running plays, but also on passing plays. I'm just really proud of these guys. They had to listen to the Beavers being puffed up like God's for weeks before this game, didn't say anything and just let their game do the talking. This senior class was awesome for us, but people like Masoli, Blount, Thurmond, Byrd, Ward, Matthews, Paysinger, etc... are all coming back. So i'm happy as a clam.
I haven't heard that. The Sun Bowl is the higher PAC-10 bowl, and they would only pass on the Beavs if Oregon State had been there last year. But if you guys do end up in the Vegas Bowl, that's obviously a much better destination for the fans. -Pop
I was just looking at last year's Civil War thread over at BBF and not a single post from Soda in it. Stay classy Soda! Although I did find a thread that Soda started in which he gives the Beavers credit for scheduling the game this year @ Penn State... the game we got are asses kicked on national tv.
I think your right, it probably will be the Sun Bowl. But as you said, fans would have more fun in Vegas. Beavs: Sun Bowl vs. PITT ?? Ducks: Holiday Bowl vs. Texas Tech or Mizzou ???
Looks like it will probably be Oregon vs. Missouri in the Holiday Bowl, which would be a juicy matchup. Oregon's spread running attack vs. Missouri's spread passing attack. Neither team with a very strong defense. First one to 60 wins. -Pop
I don't like that matchup for OSU..LeSean Mccoy is definitely a top 3-5 back in the NCAA, I am not sure if they run any misdirection or not though.
That was a pretty gut-wrenching loss for me. To be fair, I also did not congratulate Laker fans in 2000 after the Lakers eliminated the Blazers from the Western Conference Finals. Classless, I know. And I will continue to give credit where credit is due. If you're expecting an apology out of me for talking trash after the Civil War, you're barking up the wrong tree. Maybe you should start the "win or lose with grace" conversation with the Beaver fans who threw batteries at the Ducks players two years ago. Or this guy with the orange doo-rag: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/3XUUq6ejQEI&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/3XUUq6ejQEI&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> -Pop
