They do not need much - but they could use better PG play and they could use a post player with the 2nd unit.

nobody knows what opportunities our cap space will create in the next two years, but we aren't going to blow them to pay 70 million for a 20 min/game sub/insurance policy against injury who likely wouldn't be happy in that role anyway.

Okafor is a BYC now, and at $10 million. But later on... Ike, Frye, and Outlaw would be about $10 million. That would get us the bruiser backup PF, at the cost of losing 2 jump-shooters. I guess Charlotte would do it if they believed Outlaw would be a good PF who also spreads the floor.

You hit the nail on the head. After this summer is over, it will be YEARS (I'm thinking 5-10 years... really) before Portland will have the opportunity to have any sort of flexibility in a trade. I'm not saying mess with the team when it doesn't need messing, but seldom does a team have an opportunity to make a trade without having to match salaries.

Many fans on here think that we only have two options:

    1. Trade Raef + other pieces for a solid piece.
    2. Sign a free agent in the summer.

The third option is, I think, the most likely.

    3. Trade pieces for another player this summer without having to match salaries.

Given KP's ability to get creative with 2nd round picks and suitcases of Paul's 3M, imagine what he could do with financial freedom!

That window closes after this summer (or rather, gets much, much smaller).

Summed it up perfectly IMHO. With how well the team is doing right now I don't see anything happening unless all of that criteria are met (or things change of course :D ).

It's not my money of course and with Batum's impressive start I'm less concerned about getting a real 3, but I'd love to see PA willing to add one more real contract (w/the right player attached to it) to the core of guys who are bound to be breaking the bank in Portland over the next few years. I'm not sure what position they'd target... but maybe the available PT would made available by the move acquiring this quality player?

does LaBron for Batum Travis Bayless and Rudy work on the tradechecker?

I'd cry if Rudy had to go to a team like Cleveland.

If we didn't have both Blake and Sergio who deserve PT, Bayless would be playing. I'm sure he's capable, especially next to Roy if he's doing some of the ball handling. But both those other guys are playing well and we're winning, so why mix it up. At some point those guys will be gone and Bayless can step in. We're just too deep. Kind of a problem in its own right unfortunately.

Do you want to see Danny Ferry begging on the freeway ramp??

    Are you kidding me?
Roy and Oden would need to be in that conversation from the beginning of the call.

I got it, Devin Harris HAHAHHAHA

I hope we can put that one to rest, as the Nets have come out and said Harris is "untouchable."
