I've been to some Seattle Storm games and I've got to admit they're a good time. Great seats are affordable, they play hard, pass more and can actually make their freethrows. Not to mention being good role models for girls. It'd be a bummer if the league folded.
I am very surprised. And I am really pissed at the new owner who admitted he bought the team from Leslie Alexander with no idea how to finance/run it. The Comets are one of the storied franchises in the WNBA. They won 4 WNBA titles. Their star players included Sheryl Swoopes, Cynthia Cooper, Tina Thompson and the late Kim Perrot. They produced MVPs, coaches of the year, and Olympic gold medalists. They also had among the best attendance in the WNBA. Now watch that asshole owner walk off with a big golden parachute - isn't that what always happens to CEOs who run businesses into the ground?
As HCP once said at another board about the WNBA.. "I don't want my pg shooting jumpers one day, and shooting babies out the next day!"
and that's just plain stupid. You must have missed the memo, they've proven that women are actually human too.
Women may be pretty tough, but I don't know any women capable of playing pro basketball when 9 months pregnant.
No surprise to me here. With the bad economy, even rich folks can't afford to hold on to operations that are losing money, no matter how good the social message is they send.
