I was trying to figure that out too. But I think it's what your rank is, not the difference, so even though a lot of people were very close on today's game, some, like me, were still ranked about 11th.

Well this is in the 2nd position of my rank which is my true average...but Im confused why it isnt in first position
Your rank was 17th in the New York game. Your rank was 8th in the Washington game. The average is 12.5. I guess that's how the scoring is done. It made you a winner last month, so it can't be all bad.
You came in 17th for the Knicks game and 8th tonight. 17 + 8 = 25. 25 / 2 = 12.5 which is your average rank. Because someone else has the same average rank, the next tie-breaker is average total difference. If those were equal it would go to average pick differential. The numbers are all good, a certain Laker fan may have problems understanding the numbers but they are all good. Gramps... (one of the big losers in the predictions game this year)
The cumulative rankings rank you based on your average rank first, average total differential second and average pick differential third. Thus, e_blazer's dead-on pick for the NY game nets him a #1 rank just as if someone had been off by 30 points but was closer than anyone else and got #1. Where that dead-on prediction helps is in the calculation of the average differentials as tie-breakers. Gramps...
