This is exactly my point of view as well. My in-laws are from the greater Boston area - so we get to go there every once in a while. I like that team - with the exception of KG. Did not like him when he was a T-Wolf and even less so now.

Ray Allen is a classy guy, I always liked him and his game. Rondo is a pleasure to watch and Pierce seems like a nice guy as well (gang signs or not).

    KG, however, spit, spit, spit.

Maybe for 2 or 3 years, but not in the long run.

Ainge was always a bit whiny for me, but hey, he was a Blazer, and apart of some good memories for me. Plus, outside of a few bad moves, he seems to have a special knack for being a GM. Another good guy, IMO.

Ainge is one of those guys that everyone hated unless he was playing for your team. I can remember hating him when he played for the Celtics because he was such a pest. He was relentlessly annoying. Constantly poking a ball away or making a player alter his shot at the last moment or flopping successfully. When he did that for Portland it didn't annoy me at all. :devilwink:

Besides, he's a native Oregonian, you've got to give the hometown guy a little luv for doing us proud.

I understood his point and agree that the #1 pick was more valueable when we got it.

My point is that both teams were "losers" in the lottery and both turned it into more than anyone thought they could. At this point, with their team holding the title, why are Celtics fans still mad about not getting Oden? They wouldn't have won the championship last year if they had won that lottery, that's a pretty nice consolation prize for "losing".

I lived in Boston back in 83-84 and the fans were just as obnoxious back then.

Or getting stabbed and flashing gang signs. BTW, I'd like to thank the Celtics for taking a chance on Sebastian Telfair. You can have your one or two championships with your rent-a-players, that trade will give us more than that.

Yep. You offered us Pierce for the #3, Nick Van Exel and Travis Outlaw.

I tried to find that great picture of the Celtic fan looking at the screen in disbelief when the Celts lost out on the GO Sweepstakes. The guy with the Celts hat on backward with his hands on his head? Then there's also that great photo of a downcast Doc & Danny.

Of course, 3,000 miles away, there was this moment...

I don't really disagree with the first post in this thread, but it's funny to me when somebody says "these guys are so arrogant, now let me tell you how much better than them I am".

My favorite Bosox bandwagon was last year at an M's game in Seattle. A lame Bosox player was riding an M's fan hard, talking about how much Seattle sucked and how great the Red Sox were. I leaned over and told the M's fan to ask the Sox fan who was in first place in the AL East. He did and the Sox fan immediately answered the Red Sox were. I piped up that they were on the downside, looking up at the Rays. The numnut refused to believe it until he looked at the outfield flags and saw the Rays in the #1 spot. It was priceless.

At that point, some people still thought of the Rays as a basement dweller. The bandwagon guy pretty much shut up after that.

I used to like Red Sox fans (possible kinship being a Cubs fan and all), but there really is no difference between them and Yankee fans at this point.

These fucking Red Sox bandwagoners are insufferable. My love for the BoSox is shown by the scars of heartbreak inflicted upon me by years of "almost" and "if only". These Johnny-come-latelys make me sick.

I expect the Blazers will attract these kinds of fans in the future. I reserve the right to hate them with every fiber of my being.

You and me both, pal. Being a true fan of a team isn't something you just decide. It's something you have to emotionally earn.

Honestly, one of the teams that had these three players came within 8 minutes of the Finals. So I really don't think you can say they didn't care. In fact, these three were not thugs at all. Assholes maybe, but not thugs. You need to go back a few years for the real thugs. Dudes like Dontonio Wingfield, Gary Trent, Tracy Murry and Stacy Augmen. They were thugs.

For the record, I hate the Celtics. I have always hated the Celtics. I will always hate the Celtics. I probably hate that team more then any other in the league. They have a certain sense of entitlement that only the Lakers really match. But it's even worse with Boston. Sure, they have 17 titles. Good for you. Sure, McHale should have won GM of the year last year for Boston, with an assist from the Oklahoma Sloppy Seconds. That's fantastic. But don't give us all this shit about the title finally "coming home" again. That's just retarded.

And about Oden. I am truly sorry your obvious and pathetic tank job didn't work out. Neither did Portland's two years before that. The Celtics didn't deserve to get Oden that year anymore the Portland did.
