I still think he can be a good 6 man (albeit an expensive one) so he can come in and just look to score. UNfortunately, aas long as he's a starter, he needs to be held to a higher standard and have an all around game.
I've been saying this for a while - Mags was a mediocre deal that did not make this team a PO team. Yet he's a big contract. He's a stat-monster who does not make his teammates better. I'm glad KG agrees with this.
hahaha KG is hilarious for that one... it's a good thing i'm not a coach...i'd bench people so quick for selfish shit like maggette pulls...it's just a no brainer
If we could trade him for somebody better I'd be happy with that. Maybe this crappy selfish play is because this team makes him think he's back on the Clippers. Consistency is Mags' problem right now. He'll have this great game where he's getting to the foul line a dozen times, playing defense, rebounding, and dishing at least 3 assists, and then the next game he's ballhogging it and taking a 30% type of shot and just sucking on D not because he's laterally slow but he's not even trying. His most recent games makes me think he's stat-padding Jamison type of guy or he's pouting like Dampier because of all the losing. When we were winning, it was a different attitude. The guy is just not providing the hustle. I think it's because we're losing, the team has little chemistry due to no point guard glue, and because he plays PF quite a bit. Just like every swingman/tweener forward before him, he'll eventually learn to hate Nelly for using him at power forward.
This team is starting to remind me of the Larry Hughes Jamison Warriors of the past. There are individuals that can go big on random nights, but there's nobody to get them the ball. CJ's a poor man's Claxton. I re-watched the Heat game last night... the only thing I see is that everyone's looking for someone to step up and lead. Jax is back to whining every other trip up and down the court, and Mags is following suit. I'm pretty sure that if Baron were here with the rest of this lineup, the Warriors would be winning these close games. Side note: I was in Sacramento last Friday hanging out at the Sheraton at 1:30 when the Dallas Mavericks rolled in, fresh off a loss in LA. Damp is frickin huge. I tried to buy Ellie a drink, but he said that he just wanted to hit the sack. I told Ellie that I wish he'd come back and straighten out the mess in Golden State, he said that I should ask Mully and Nelly why they angled him out first
Wow that's really cool you got to see Erick Dampier and Mario Elie. I wish we had Mario Elie back. AT least he'd play the big men and try to get these guys to do something defensively and in the halfcourt.
It's funny. All of the guys were there, Terry, Dirk, Kidd, etc. The only guys that actually paid us any mind were Kidd, Damp, and Ellie. I didn't see Donnie or Cuban though. Everyone else were too cool to even say Hello. I felt bad for Ellie though. It made me hate our front office even more.
That's great you got to talk with some of the guys. I live in Sacto and should hang out at the Sheraton more instead of downtown or in Natomas . I would have loved to talk with JKidd to see if he still remembers Cal and ask him if he'll play with the Warriors for one year after his Dallas days are over. I still love to go see Kidd games and watch him play. I learned how to save my legs by watching him play (It's true. Your legs are the first to go. LOL.). P.S. I can't remember what happened with Super Mario? Wasn't he a coach and then he got passed over?
