With K Love comin into town tonight? How do you like him in comparison to Lopez? Might we have come out the winner of the rookie big man competition? We will find out tonight.
For one thing they play different positions. So far Lopez is looking like the best center in the draft, while Love is looking good at PF. Had the nets got Love they would have an argument they had the best pf in the draft, but would still be weak at center. In the long run i'd say the nets are doing better because you can't teach height. To get a big man with so many talents is a very difficult thing to do in this league. The nets have a big man for the next decade or so, and thats what franchises are built around. Great Pf's are also hard to come across, but centers of this caliper are clearly more difficult to find. Both players though look like they will have long successful careers in the nba provided injuries don't take that away.
For the most part, I think the roles of PF and Center are interchangeable. A lot of the time I figure titling players is more about taxonomy then their playing styles, so to say that they aren't comparable because of their positions isn't a restriction that I would subscribe to. That being said, I going Brook over love for now based on the numbers. But also, I don't think I would give up Lopez for any other rookie at this point. (p.s. elliot ur ghey)
Really. At this particular juncture, having an emerging 7-footer could be much more beneficial than another guard in the long run for the Nets, who obviously have had some holes at the 4 and 5. Of course, that's not to say that Lopez is better than either of those two players (which he may turn out to be in the future) but instead he fills a necessary role, I would imagine the Nets record being much different- with either rose or mayo on the roster for lopez.
it's an axiom: all things equal - you go with a big. But, in case of Lopez and Rose IMO things aren't equal. Rose is a stud and will be a superstar in this league, whereas Lopez is a very good player and will be very good player in this league. There is a reason Rose went 1st and Brook 10th (even though he probably should have been taken higher).
Love's been doing good, getting some double-doubles in the last few games, but I'd still take Lopez any day. He's a legit 7-foot and doesn't have any weight/conditioning issues. I was watching the Celtics vs Wolves and the announcers were saying Love would be better off in the East where its slower-paced.
Lopez easily. Lopez is doing great now and has the potential to be one of the top centers in the league. Also the Twolves better hope that Love turns out to be at least decent because Mayo is looking like the real deal.
Lopez easily. I was a huge Love supporter and really down on Lopez but it's the opposite now. it's so hard to find skilled big men with size but Brook has the post game combined the toughness and height to be a top big man. Love is not a center but is to slow to play PF. he's still pretty chunky, Lopez is going to be our center for years to come.
Never liked either in college but I'd take a center over a power forward any day of the week if they are close in talent which they are.
I'd take Lopez right now over Love. Now if you ask me who's uncle is the better singer, I'd have to go with Love.
In the days leading up to the draft, the Nets were trying to trade their two picks so they could get a higher pick and take Love. Thorn reportedly loved him.
Love looked soft, except for that dunk everything else about him just looked flat. What a horrible franchise, trading OJ Mayor for Kevin Love.
