In the spirit of last year's "Free Sergio" campaign I've decided to take it upon myself to start a new movement this year: "Free Bayless." All you have to do, is post in every game thread (at least 5 times) "Put Jerryd in!", "Why isn't Nate putting Jerryd in.", and/or "What this team really needs right now, is Jerryd." Follow up topics are welcomed too, and make sure that you say how much Sergio and Blake suck.

    Who's with me?

    :ghoti:

I agree. This kid is our PG of the future - or at least needs to get real playing time so we can see if he can do it. He looks like a real, modern day PG out there. Going fast to the basket, sliding quickly in front of his man and attacking the rim.

I'd like to see more playing time for Bayless. I think that Kevin Pritchard need to use that big fat contract sitting on our books to thin out our roster a bit too, thus making room for Bayless.

I was thinking about Bayless last night after the bad lose to the Celtics. I know there are at least 3-4 people on this forum that are always looking for a trade and many include Bayless. I sure hope KP doesn't make a trade for a old vet PG like Nash, Kidd etc and include Bayless. I'm not saying don't trade for those PG's but just don't include Bayless in the trade. I also know a few don't think Bayless will ever be a PG but I think he will at least on this team. In the two blow outs by the Lakers and Celtics Bayless came in a played fearless/tough and fuck you LA/Bos and took it right at them. I have watched Bayless in his college, SL, pre-season and in the few minutes in gets in the regular season and he has that tough hard nose fuck you attitude that we need. He plays tough defense, a very good shooter and is fearless driving to the basket. I don't care what the few posters on this forum say Bayless has a good chance to be the PG we need playing along side Roy. I hear all the time don't trade Outlaw, Webster because it will come back to haunt us but I don't think either Outlaw or Webster have that much upside to haunt us but I do think Bayless is the one guy that could develop into a really good player on another team and come back to haunt us. OK I'm done with my Bayless buildup!:dunno:

He might not be ready to start but I think he is at least ready for some minutes and I don't care who he takes minutes away from. Maybe some from both Blake, Sergio or even someone else I don't care who.:dunno:

I'm getting on board with you, but not yet. I'm fine with Blake and Sergio getting a majority of the burn as we approach the trade deadline. There is little doubt that he's the most physically talented of the three and also has the best jumper, but I see some positives having him mentored by Blake and Nate for a stretch. It's true that people learn by doing, but they also learn by watching and listening too.

I'm very excited about what he will eventually bring to the club.

I watched and I liked Bayless's attitude, but did he pass once on a drive? He's a pint-sized Corey Maggette.

No, but he is already one of the toughest players on the team....and we need that!

Jerryd played PG very well. He got Rudy the ball right where he wanted it coming off screens, he got Outlaw cutting into the paint for an open free throw jumper. He defends PGs well and he brings it up as good as any of our PGs.

I still have NO IDEA where people get the impression that he is a ball hog. If you have watched him AT ALL in preseason and his minutes in the reg. season, you know that he is not.

SO MANY PEOPLE say "Oh he was good in summer league, that doesn't count" yet they use SUMMER LEAGUE as an excuse to say that he is a ballhog. Its ridiculous.

On a drive? Huh? He had like 2 or 3 drives... what are you talking about?

We cut the Celtics lead when Bayless was on the floor - and it was not even with Roy next to him.

This kid needs playing time, simple.

I think this was his best regular season game yet.
Rondo didn't have any FGs with Bayless guarding him.
He was 100% from the field and he got an assist
He played with poise and didn't back down when Garnett got on him

Didn't he get fouled (or called for the double dribble after Garnet whacked him) on every one of his drives?

Wrong he did misfire on an alley oop to Rudy, so while technically not off of a drive he did try to create something for teammates.

Take a deep breath and try to see the slightly tongue in cheek nature of my original post ... but I would like to see a little more of B-Rex as the season progresses.

Yeah that dunk would have been SICK!

Did you see those two talking while rondo was taking foul shots? I bet Bayless said go straight to the hoop and I'll hook it up.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Bayless absolutely needs more minutes. My dream scenario is that another team likes Sergio Rodriguez and Pritchard can package him with LaFrentz and/or Outlaw for a talented, young player. Leaving the point guard position settled; Blake as starter with Bayless as primary reserve for now, with the situation reversing as Bayless gets experience.
