I think he's outstayed his welcome in Dallas, he is making $7 million this year and then $7.25 million next year - do you think we should trade him? He seemed to have come up in trade rumours for Zach Randolph so I don't think Dallas would be opposed to trading him. What do you reckon? Any trade ideas? Who needs a veteran 2 guard?
There is absolutely no way in hell GS would trade Steven Jackson for Jerry Stackhouse. Maybe you could get Maggette but you would have to give something of value along with Stackhouse too
us lakers would take him, but who would we give you? chris mihm and luke? we aint givin up ariza or jordan so dont ask.
^^^lol, that's what I was thinking...........yes stack is over the hill, but he's still much better than Luke or Mihm.
Maggette's short comings is that he don't like to pass and can't play D. He will put his head down and head to the cup, which is a good thing, seeing what Barea has been doing for the Mavs thus far. Stack has an unguarateed 7.25 next year, which makes him very attractive to the Warriors if they want to rid themselves of excess salaries and bodies...which Maggette is. I wouldn't give them any sweeteners. Straight up or no deal.
Would not do that deal. Maggette is a stat stuffer, and won't help the Mavs at all. All he'll do is disrupt the team chemistry when he hogs the ball to get his own numbers. Besides, we have Howard, don't need Maggette. I'd rather get a legit SG than another SF.
I understand there haven't been any takers for Stack but I seriously hope Malik Rose isn't the best we can do for him. Every time I see Larry Hughes complain about minutes on the Bulls, I envision him in a Mavs jersey. Something like Stack+Diop for Hughes would work, and the stats do back up Hughes playing better with more minutes. Considering the wing players we have Hughes wouldn't have an issue getting 30+ minutes on the Mavs squad. The Bulls would get some cap relief, a serviceable big man, and would be able to let go of Hughes and his big mouth. Why not?
It's hard for the Mavs to get anything substantial for Stack because he's 34 and hasn't played. Plus everyone knows that the Mavs are looking to unload him so the teams will automatically try to low blow them. Larry Hughes has been playing decently for the Bulls. Sure, he can get trigger friendly and take ill-advised shots but he's a very good defender and gives the Bulls flexibility with his versatility. This is important since Kirk Hinrich is out for the next couple of months. In addition, at this stage in his career, Stack isn't going to provide anything which Hughes hasn't. And Hughes isn't crippling their future either. He is grossly overpaid, making $13M/season but he expires in 2010; right in time for this much-anticipated "FA class of the century". With Rose on his rookie contract and Chicago being a major market, the Bulls definitely want to be in a good financial position for 2010. Acquiring Diop's contract ($6.5M in 2010) will hinder this.
That is true. The most appealing thing about Stackhouse is that his contract is essentially a 4 million dollar expiring contract; going from 7 to 3 next season. Its unfortunate that the Mavs are mostly loaded with long-term, overpriced deals (cough cough.. Dampier and Diop) with very little in the way of decent, value-appropriate bargaining chips. If they move Stack I just hope they get someone that can actually play productive minutes.
