<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Willie Green stopped by practice on Tuesday to visit with the team and see some old friends. Green, who is recovering from a left knee ACL reconstruction and repair of a lateral meniscus tear, says that he's not very far away from being able to play competitive basketball again.?I'm feeling good," said Green. "I'm about three weeks away from playing...Today was my first real day of intense workouts, so I did pretty well and we're going to see how it looks tomorrow just doing some drills, but it felt good. It felt good getting back out there."Green said that the three week estimate would be when he can play in a game for the Sixers, but team General Manager and President Billy King isn't as optimistic."He came in to see the doctors and they looked at him, and he's not there yet, so we'll just talk with his agent and see where we go from there," said King. "I think it's three weeks where he could go up and down, not three weeks where he could play in a game. I think he should have optimism, but it's something I'll talk to his agent about and we'll go from there."</div>Full Story - Sixers.comI am extremely excited to hear this. It's about **** time Green has started to get back at it. He seems a lot better after rehab and only three weeks to go. We need him off the bench extremely.
It will be nice if we can bring back Willie. I like the kid. Though we were saved from his large contract he was about to get.
As much as I want Willie to return, I don't think it is as big of a move as a lot of people are thinking it will be.First of all, he is not going to play in three weeks. More than likely he'll start full contact practice in two or three weeks, and ride the bench for a while until Mo thinks he is ready to go.Also, do you really think Willie is going to make a big impact? Not at all. He needs the ball in his hands to be effective, and has not been able to mesh with AI on the court at the same time. He is at his best when AI is not in the game, and with AI's propensity to play big minutes, there won't be many times where Willie is in the game by himself.Willie will be welcomed back with open arms, but he is not the solution to our problems. Also, for what it's worth, I'm hearing we are in discussions to land a significant player to our roster, but the deal is far from complete. It is just a feeling-out process at this point.
I thoink it would be good to get him back. He will help out alot here. But I wouldn't sign him for a long year. I'd sign him for a year and if he is still goo then they can keep him. But if not, they can figure that one out!
