By that rationale, I have been having a DaBullzgasm since Opening Day for my Lakers....wouldn't that kill someone?

Celtics erased basically an entire week of progress for the Blazers in one fatal killing.

can you briefly describe the methodology you use for ranking teams?

Thanks. have you considered adjusting the methodology to account for quality of the opponent; how the team does in home vs. road games; and how the team has done recently?

To give a radical example, it seems like, so long as the offensive and defensive ratings turn out the same, a team that starts 41-0 and then loses ins remaining games would have roughly the same rating as a team that starts 0-41 and then goes on a 41-game winning streak. I'd think that the latter team would have a better shot at the title, right? To give a more realistic example, if there was a recent-game component, it would take into account mid-season trades and injuries. Look at my team, the Nets. Early in the season, Devin Harris missed three games and the team got shelled. Since his return, they've won something like 8 of 11 games or so. At some point, I'd think that those early games should be discounted somewhat and more significance given to the last ten or 15 or 20 games or so.

Also, since the home team wins about 60% of the time in the NBA, I'd think that a team that has played more road games than home games and done as well as a team that has played more home games than road games should be ranked higher.

Finally, to what extent do the numbers change if you use the league-average O-rtg and D-rtg instead of those by the top team as the base?

Don't the Pacers have a history of beating the good teams?

And the Lakers have the Bucks tonight, so don't underestimate the Lakers, they might just pull it off.

Yep, you're right about the Pacers, but I have a good feeling tonight that we're going to beat them by around 20 points.
