as a spin off from the other thread that is along these lines... So far the Celtics and Lakers are right where the Bulls were at during their 72 win season, with the Lakers at 16-2 after 18 games, and the Celtics at 19-2 after 21 games. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/features/best Do you think either have a chance to match/beat the 72 win total?
Celtics IMO have a greater chance because of the defensive style they play. Lakers are right behind them though.
I like the Lakers better for this, since the Celtics are older, and Ray Allen or Garnett will miss some games. On the other hand, Lakers are more suited to keep winning, as they are still a beastly team without Bynum. Both team's might get 70 wins, but no more than 71 imo.
It will come down to the 2 games that Lakers play the Celtics, if they lose both, then the Celtics will have a better record and probably a chance of reaching that record. We'll see though. Also it sucks the first game is Dec 25th, and that's the day I arrive in Munich Germany, hopefully I can catch it there somehow.
The Celtics are on pace for 74 wins The Lakers are on pace for 73 wins The Cavs are on pace for 70 wins
70 wins is downright tough. You look at projections like the ones posted here and any one of these teams goes 12-2 over the next 14 and they're on pace to win < 70.
Add 12-2 to current records: Celtics on pace for 73 wins Lakers on pace for 72 wins Cavs no longer on pace for 70.
According to John Hollinger, the Cavs are the most likely team to win 70, with a 20% chance. Again, according to his computerised simulation projections, they are also the team most likely to set a new record by winning 73+ games, and for that there is a 4.something% chance. Yeah, or not I think 65+ is achievable though.
Can we stop copying threads from BBF? If I want to discuss the same threads as BBF, I would be on BBF because there are more people. I don't want to be an ass but I am seriously getting tired that 1/2 the threads have the same title as BBF.
had no clue there was a thread on it there. Although it's probably safe to assume that a thread on the same topic is going to appear on just about any message board that talks about the NBA.
I think both of them have a shot at 70+, but it's going to be tough. It requires focus all season and health. I think the Lakers have the better shot at health since they're a younger team, but I'm worried about their focus because of their youth. The Celtics will have to worry more about injuries than focus though, since they're a veteran laden team. In the end, I think both teams will come away with 66-70 wins, but I don't know if they get to 72 or 73.
