Someone linked this in a separate thread, but I thought it deserves it's own thread, because it deals with team unity. Or obvious lack thereof. http://48minutes.net/2008/12/07/thoughts-on-game-no-20-spurs-123-warriors-88/ We all know the Maggette debacle going on. But I really liked the part about the separate cabs -- that totally sounds like this team. There is no team bus -- they're all on their own out there. Ugly.
I hate that mentality. I'd rather watch a team of scrappers than alleged "superstars" who were nothing more than gunning losers. I have little doubt that Maggette and Crawford are on the separate cab track and that SJax may be when the tide is losing. That's just awful for the youngsters and Nelly really needs to step up and take control back of the direction of the team.
Man WTF is up with Maggette this year. He can't shoot. If we suck bad enough and get lucky enough to get the top prospect big man in this year's draft, would Nelson even play the guy at his natural position? Or would the other bozos besides Stephen Jackson actually get this guy the ball? Face it, we gotta clean house for any guy that plays selfishly and doesn't play defense. Those two qualities on the same player should immediately indicate what this team will be if there are more than 1 of those types of players in the same rotation. Crawford + Maggette = bad news. Azu is also another guy that doesn't pass much either, but at least he tries harder on D. Our best passers on this team that don't play are probably Belinelli and Marcus Williams.
I don't think Maggette was ever considered a shooter, CR2. Just a scorer. A very one-dimensional scorer. This is why he gets to the free throw line, because his only goal is to score in any way possible with no consideration of teammates. The guy is a loser. You're going to have to jump off the Maggette bandwagon soon ;-)
Mags is a bad outside shooter but his midrange jumpshot was supposed to be good I thought. I like Mags in certain elements, I just can't agree with how he's used or his role on this team. It's like watching Derek Fisher play. Derek Fisher is a very skilled player, but he's got to learn what his limitations are in the nba. Both these guys forget and they stop being the productive type that helps the team win.
Oh man the Fisher era in Oakland. We had fun with his game, eh? Watch him in LA now, see him pass? He'll still pull up and take jumpers in transition but he's making more now and knows not to take shots away from Kobe/Gasol/Bynum.
I honestly thought Maggette wouldn't be this bad, but he's been like a Derek Fisher. The problem is compounded with Nelly's stupid ass lineups and throwing Jamal Crawford into the mix.
