LeBron, KG may not start All-Star GameViews 9749 Comments 59 08:44 AM ET The first All-Star voting results will be released Thursday, with a potential issue at the forefront. Second-year New Jersey forward Yi Jianlian could be aided strongly by votes from his native China as he competes for one of the two starting Eastern Conference forward spots with superstars Kevin Garnett and LeBron James. If Yi is not voted in as an All-Star, the budding big man has no chance of the East coaches voting him in as a reserve. http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/80571-lebron-kg-may-not-start-all-star-game ________________________________________________________________________ If this happens....it's just disgusting!!!
This is garbage from Boston Garnett homers. They're already crying about the sky falling or Red Scare, whatever you want to call it. The writer guy didn't have any early numbers. Boston and Garnett has a lot of fans, but he has a lot of haters as well because he talks so much sh1t constantly. You have to also think about Garnett's numbers are down and he was never that exciting a player anyway. And he threw Lebron's name in there to make it look less homerish and scare Lebron fans too. Retards need to know, Lebron is more popular in China than Yi. Lebron is NBA international's poster boy.
well the declining number can attributed to KG not needing to be the lone contributor with Allen and Pierce on the same team...and you can also see that with the many big leads they have....the big three often sit more minutes than most starters with bigger numbers. But with all this aside, can you hoonestly say that Yi even deserves to be in the All-Star game period?
Well, how many people even watch the all-star game? No, it's ridiculous to think that Yi is all-star level. However, Yi has star power and people want to see and talk about the guy. There's not many Asian NBA ballers, so they stick out. People want to see what's the deal. Garnett will be at the game, the coaches will put him in. Boston fans are greedy, they want the bragging rights too. But you know what, I'm sick of Garnett and that fake NBA garnett teamwork/intensity commercial they show after every break... what more can i say.
lebron more popular than yi in china? hell no... the only athlete more popular than yi in china are liu xiang and yao. Thats saying a lot if you consider all the gold medal heros in badminton and pingpong.
Damn dude, did KG piss in your Wheaties or sumthin'...lol...this isn't about Boston fans being greedy (by the way...I am NOT a boston fan) it's about that fact that if Yi gets in, it's hurt the integrity of the process, cause when a player gets in solely on the basis of his nationality and not his current level of skill....there is something wrong
As much as thier was major fan fair for Kobe and LeBron James....when it comes down to pride of thier nation....they will not hesitate to vote Yi above LeBron out of sheer devotion to seeing one of their own as an All-Star starter....sure they love watching and cheering for LeBron and Kobe....but they almost consider it a personal duty to have someone represent them in the Spotlight....it's all about honor
I was joking with my friends about integrity of beauty contests and padded bras. You're talking about a meaningless game that no one even watches. The players don't even take it seriously, they don't play defense. They take turns with open lane dunks. Give me a break. I'm just saying. I can care less. Give all profit of these games and salaries to sick children for a day. Stuff that actually matters.
Lot's of people watch the game. It's just a fun, entertaining event. The players don't take it seriously because they're trying to enjoy themselves.
Well NNNM, the all-star game isn't really about the current level of skill, and yeah there is something wrong about that. It's all about average casual fans voting for Allen Iverson and Shaq every year because they are who they are. If it were based on skill, Shaq sure as hell wouldn't be starting, and would be fighting to make the team.
The All-Star Game is a popularity contest first, and foremost. If Yi gets voted in, that's because that's the way the system was built. If the NBA really wants to make the ASG a skilled based contest, they'd only have GMs/Coaches/Staff vote in players and raise the stakes for the winner of the game. For example, each conference's GMs/Coaches/Staff votes for the best players in their conference. Then in the East vs West ASG, the winning conference gets Home Court Advantage for the playoffs (similar to the MLB). Now THAT would be an exciting to game to watch. Who wouldn't want to watch that? Two dream teams fighting hard, trying to win something they actually care about!
Kevin Garnett is a crazy man. Without Pierce and Allen, he is nothing, but a loser. By the way, I hope Vince and Devin get the help from China.
ummm...no team ever won with just one guy....every team has mulitple contributors. The same could be said about Pierce, without Allen and KG....or Allen without Pierce and KG Besides, when has it become a bad thing for a front office to build the best team at thier disposal?
The same thing could definitely be said about Ray and Paul, lest we forget that prior to the big 3 being assembled the Celtics were (by measure of their record) the worst team in the NBA. Then there were the Sonics.
Exactly...which is why I think that this resent rash of "KG-Beatings" I feel is unwarranted and I ask the question as to why KG would be "nothing" and is not "a good player" all of the sudden...it just goes to prove that people cheer the underdogs until they win...then people enjoy to beat them back down and hope they fail...it's really quite sad. When KG wasn't with the "NBA Champion" Celtics he was never targeted with such negativity. Makes you wonder that had Malone and Stockton actually won...would thier play and (sometimes) dirty tactics have been projected as well?
I dont care about KG other than the four times a year the Nets play the Celtics. I care about Yi and hope he makes it. There are many events, other than the NBA All-Star game, whose integrity I care about. The integrity of the NBA All-Star game is not on my list. I hope Yi starts and is the Eastern Conference's biggest vote getter. He's a Net.
