It looks like Randy Wittman's tenure as the head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves is over. According to inside sources, Randy Wittman will be fired tomorrow(Sunday) or Monday after a 4-15 start this season. Wittman will be replaced by Kevin McHale who will have a day or two to practice with the team depending on the day that Wittman is fired. McHale will coach the team on Tuesday night against the Utah Jazz at home. McHale will most likely remain the head coach for the remainder of the season since the Timberwolves will have to pay Randy Wittman for the rest of this season and next year. Apparently when Kevin McHale told reporters before the season that this team could win 40 games, Wittman was not a big fan of the comment. This created some tension between the two after last season's finish at 22 wins. Wittman most likely figured the team would get better but McHale's 40 games was somewhat out of a reach.
If there were any justice in this world they would just fucking fire McHale already and bring back Dwane Casey.
Yup, yup....at least thier kinda getting the right idea....but they should bite the bullet, reach an agreement of a buy-out with Whittman....and go after any of the above options
Good sources. I wonder if McHale coaching is an Isiah type of thing, win with the roster you put together or your fired.
Well, McHale did the coaching gig a couple years ago too after he fired Flip, and he went 19-12, so he wasn't too bad. I think this is more of a move to save money though. With the economy the way it is, you don't want to be paying two coaches.....that's a lot of money.
Yep. It's the Isiah death throes. McHale is on his way out. Too bad they let this guy blatantly sabotage their organization for 13 years.
